Re: How was your weekend?

  • Our weekend was great!  Relaxing and sunny and spent waaayyy too much money but..eh. Sometime's it's necessary for the soul :)  My last day of working was last Thursday!!  I loved my job and the people I worked with but it was so stressful.  Non-profit grant writing is not an easy job, by any means, especially in a bad economy.  Grants/proposals just aren't being funded and with no hard money to fall on..everyone is stressed..always.  But I'm not!!! :)

Friday we went out to celebrate at an Indian restaurant.  K is a meat and potatoes kind of girl and I could bathe in Indian.. every.day.  So I was super excited when she said she would try it and I choose a new place (bad idea) that had awesome reviews in a swanky town and it wasn't very good.  It wasn't bad.. but it wasn't amazing and there is nothing like amazing Indian..   :(  She was a champ though and said she would try it again, at another restaurant, to see if she could catch my obsession.  Then we came home and watched DVR'd shows.. hot date night.

Saturday we went to Home Depot for paint samples to try out on the nursery, came home, tried them, fell in *love* with one color, went into Boston, went to the diaper lab (thus beginning the Fall from our bank account) and pretty much completed our cloth diaper stash, went to the North End for pizza (mmm!!) and beer/water and watch the Bruins vs Philly.  We went back to Home Depot and picked up a gallon of the paint and about a million other things for the nursery and the lawn/garden.  Went to Old Navy and spent way too much on their buy one get anything half off sale, went to Sports Authority to pick up cleats and batting gloves for K's softball season which starts tonight and of course, bought a few more things.

Sunday we went to Lowes for who knows what.. oh yeah.. a mask so I could paint (and of course ended up getting about 30 more things) came home and K did the lawn while I primed the nursery walls and silently calculated where our bank account might be, when she came in and said the lawn mower died.  REALLY.  So back to Lowes for a new lawn mower and we are now on a spending freeze until December.  :)

Nothing says 'homeowner in Spring' like 4 trips to the hardware store in 2 days.  And now I am off to paint!!! YAY!!! Happy Monday!!

  • I worked all weekend, but K had it off.  She was in a very silly mood, so that made my weekend nice :)  I woke up Sunday morning to her making me french toast!  Yum.  Other than that... I've just been obsessing over my chart.  It's looking good so far!

Friday L was off writing and I had grand plans to take the kids to the playground when we got home from school but it took us FOREVER to get home. So it ended up being a regular night.

Saturday I putzed around the house while the kids played. Took them to the mall and then to a playgroup at a new playground where we ran into N2A, TWB, and their adorable kiddos! The kids ran for 2 hrs straight and then took a great nap. L came home and we went to Wegmans to order their birthday cakes (Ben 10 and Littlest Pet Shop, and no, they haven't seen either show.) Got steaks to grill and grilled out for the first time this season. Yay!

Sunday the kids and I were in moods. We attempted to go to Bob Evans for breakfast but en route there Carter had an accident (mind you we live across the street from the restaurant. I was so annoyed with him that we went home and ate there. Less you think I am a monster, he is nearly 5y old. He's been potty trained for 2y. We were in the car and not near a bathroom for less than 5 minutes. And this is the 2-3 accident this week.) We went and played tennis and then walked over to Kohls and Target. L mowed the lawn while the kids played and I played Words with Friends. :) L left to go to Hershey for a work conference while I rested with the kids and prayed we'd all wake up happier. We didn't. I took them to the playground in the rain and then home for pizza and movie night. I stayed up waaay too late watching DVR stuff and then woke at 4am and had a hard time getting back to sleep. Yawn.

  • Saturday we drove out to LA to visit J's aunts and go to the cemetary where her grandma is buried.  We met up with my Dad, his wife and my little brother for dinner before heading home.  We all went straight to bed once home.

Sunday J worked.  I did Iz' hair in the morning, then she took a nap and I read a book.  I worked in the garden while Iz played outside.  J came home and we went to her parents house for dinner.  J's brother wanted to go to the batting cages so I had J drop us off at home so we could wait for A.  A came home with broken glasses and a what looked like the beginnings of a black eye, she got hit with a basketball when she was playing with their neighbor kids.  Off to bed for the girls.  When J got home we had a long and serious discussion about me having a hard time bonding with Iz.  J went to bed and I stayed up to read a little.

  • It was a mixed bag. My friend Erin came into town late Thursday night and we got up early on Friday and watched the royal wedding, which was fun. Jen went to work and Erin and I worked from home (well, she worked from my home). We went to a coffee shop to work for the afternoon since neither of us had meetings/calls scheduled. We were all tired Friday night from getting up so early, so we went out for burgers and then we showed her our NZ pictures and watched TV - overall, a really nice day.

Saturday Erin went to her old neighborhood to do some shopping while we went to the social worker appointment. I felt bad b/c we were still - I won't say fighting, but disagreeing - when we met back up with Erin for lunch. Jen was tired and in a bad mood, which frustrated me, b/c she loves Erin too and was really looking forward to this visit. We ate lunch, which was fun, but then we went to our favorite vintage store and favorite antique store and Jen chose to sleep in the car instead of walking around with us. Urgh. I just think that's rude, but fortunately Erin s VERY easy-going and didn't mind at all. I wanted to go out and do something on Saturday night, like get drinks on a rooftop or something, but nobody else wanted to, so we spent another low-key evening at home. She left early Sunday morning and we slept in and then went running and did boring stuff (worked on resumes, ran errands, etc.).

And this morning we started the week off right when Jen said something that hurt my feelings, and I'm trying to get over b/c she apologized, but, yeah. We are just not on the same page right now, we're really stressed, and I'm in the mood to run away.

  • Friday was my day off (YAY!) and I spent it finding out that I have a failed root canal (BOO!) and have to have the tooth pulled and an implant put in. Yuck.

Saturday we went to music class in the morning, which is always fun. Little Man has been doing this little dancing thing at home where he moves his feet really fast to the music (almost like he's running in place), but he was too shy to dance in class so he mostly hung out on Mommy's lap. Peanut was a little more reserved than usual, too. Could be those ear infections they are both still battling :(.

After music class we went to the park to meet up with a new playgroup for the first time, and were pleasantly surprised to see 2brides there with her cuties! We had a TON of fun, and stayed till 3 pm chatting with some of the other moms. Right as we were getting ready to go, something stung or bit Little Man, and his eye started swelling up. We called the on-call pedi when we got in the car, and he sent us to Urgent Care for it to be checked out. Poor buddy was such a trooper as the doc poked and prodded his eye, which by that point was swollen shut. We spent the evening dealing with his eye (went home for baths and dinner and then back to Urgent Care for a follow-up appt) and got to bed late.

Sunday we played around the house and ran a couple of little errands. In the afternoon I snuck out while the kids were napping to go to a few open houses and find some shoes for work. The shoe search was a bust, but I found a house I LOVE. I tried to get S to come see it (the kids were up by that time), but she declined (she doesn't want to get attached). We weren't really supposed to be looking for a new place to live (though we desperately need more room), but we might decide to pursue this because the house is so perfect for us. The kids were tired by the time I got home, so we put them to bed early and lounged on the couch ignoring the dishes for the rest of the night.

UGH! I am so sorry about LM's eye! That looks miserable. :( It was great seeing you all again. Carter said, "We saw them before at the Embassy Suites!" LOL. :)

  • Friday was a basic night at home.

Saturday was our errands day.  Bulk shopping, grocery shopping, etc.  We ran to a friend's house to drop of an Easter Basket and then picked up chinese food for an easy dinner.

Sunday I stopped by a local LGBT kid/family gtg and got to see Norika's adorable kiddos again! They are the cutest! JB was shy at first and then walking everywhere so I didn't get to really sit and chat with the other families, but it was nice.  We left that to go to a concert that was benefiting my work.  JB loved clapping to the music and being Miss Social.  Then it was home for a bath and bed.  I stayed up way too late and woke up to no power this morning so things didn't start great.  But, since then I've gotten two pieces of really good news (thanks for saying yes CT!) so things are looking up! :-)

Great to see you and JB too! She's such a big girl walking around! Thanks for coming!

Is it bad that I can't remember anything we did on either Friday or Sat, due to sleep deprivation?

  • ours was pretty good. we have a friend visiting from Amsterdam so I took Friday and today off (I figured since I was POAS this morning I could either celebrate or mope in peace and we're getting together with said friend later today, too) and we've been hanging out with her quite a bit. she's heading out tomorrow.

I sing in a chorus and our concert was this weekend, so I also had that Saturday and Sunday. yesterday evening I CRASHED on the couch.

  • Friday J and I woke up so I could do her hair before work and she watched the Royal Wedding after complaining all week about the coverage! LOL. She went to work and I lounged around and packed. We went out for our last night at our apartment :(. Our house won't be done for two weeks (When we get back from getting married) so Saturday we put half our stuff in storage and then the rain started so we packed what we could and went to UHAUL. The over night manager wasn't there (UGH) so we had to bring our stuff to my parents house and we had no clothes or anything. We passed out as soon as we got here though.

Sunday it started raining hard as we got the storage building full. We had to pack up all our things that stay with us in the middle of a huge storm. By the time we got to my parents house we were soaked. We showered and go ready for a family dinner. J woke me up at night and told me my snoring sounded like growling and I was freaking out Nimo, our 11 week old husky hahaha.

    Happy Monday.
