Kaiser pedes rec at Reston?

hi, anyone have a rec for a KAiser pediatrician at the Reston facility?  Also, any preferences between L&D at Inova Fair Oaks vs. Reston Hospital?

Re: Kaiser pedes rec at Reston?

  • We use Dr Haggerty at the Reston KP office and LOVE her!  We randomly ran into her on a Sunday at Barnes & Noble, and she came over to say hello, and even knew DS's name there on the spot.  She's so sweet and gentle, easy to ask questions to (during appointments or through email!), and helps you to make educated decisions.  I couldn't recommend her more!

  • Oh, and to answer your question about the L&D...I don't know if Reston Hospital is an option with KP.  I was only given Fair Oaks and Fairfax as an option.  Check with the OB dept to see if they've opened up their options.

That said, I delivered at Fair Oaks and found the experience to be perfectly fine.  It was farther from home for me than Reston, which would have been more convenient if it was an option.  But since DS was born premature, my stay in L&D wasn't the norm.  I will say (and pray you don't have a need for it!) that their NICU was absolutely fantastic.  The Dr's and nurses were wonderful, and each infant has his/her own room, so it kind of saves you from the added stress from other parents/babies.

  • Reston Hospital was lovely but was not a fit for our low-intervention birth hopes: no doulas allowed, no laboring tubs (Fair Oaks has 2), some newborn procedures are done off the floor which means baby is away for 15 or so minutes. Those were all deal-breakers for our style.

LO and I both see the same Kaiser family practice Dr in Burke, so I am no help on the ped.
