I have literally tried every old wives tale under the sign to get labor going and nothing!! Walking, sex, EPO, spicy food, exercise ball, raspberry leaf tea, pineapple, squats...I was 50% effaced at my appointment last week but not dilated yet.
I know baby will come when he/she is ready but I just needed to whine. I just wish I could stay home from work, but I feel like I don't have a good reason if I'm not having any contractions. Trying for a VBAC this time, and they have me "on the books" for a c-section May 11 if nothing happens by then. I hate the idea of having to wait it out until the 18th, but I was thinking of asking them to push the CS to 42 weeks just so I know I gave it my best shot.
So, anybody got any other ridiculous things I could try??? The only thing I haven't done is castor oil...
Re: come out, come out, wherever you are...
Dear VTMezzo,
I don't have any more induction ideas for you. For my first, I had Mexican, handmade ice cream (read: very fatty) and played Wii right before I went into labor at 40 and 6. It ended in a CS due to a surprise breech baby.
I met all of the recommendations for a perfect VBAC attempt (one horizontal cs, labored naturally in the previous, etc.). My doc and I talked about breaking my water (amniotomy) the day before the scheduled CS if I didn't start on my own. It isn't for everyone, but it was very sucessful for me. Be sure to read up on the risks and recommendations. If you want more information about my choices and requests for the birth, ping me at nestiekewlie at yahoo dot com.

Hey there - I was wondering if the baby decided to make an appearance yet. My water broke the day before my due date while trying to get up from a low couch so maybe try some squats? I know that up to that point, I was doing tons of walking but it didn't seem to get things moving. I hope that it happens for you soon.
raspberry leaf tea
I have felt your pain (not with the vbac, but with waiting--both of my girls were late) and just wanted to support your whine...I almost tried castor oil with DD#2, but after reading about the potential (and likely) side effects, I decided it was not for me. I say keep doing what you're doing--sometimes I think it's the build up effect;)
GL and lots of labor dust!!!
I have a feeling that this baby is going to arrive late as well. I don't mind if she is a few days late, but I really don't want to end up with an induction.
I'll keep my fingers crossed that you go into labor soon!!

I don't think you're whining, especially with your VBAC situation! No one is comfortable at that stage of the game, and it's maddening to be wondering hour to hour how close you are, if that little twinge you just had was the start of contractions, etc. Everything is in a holding pattern, and you just want things to get moving already.
Sympathy aside, there's that famous eggplant parmesan recipe some people swear by. Probably the last thing you want to do right now is cook a full meal - maybe DH could help? I'd think LindseyJW would have some good suggestions - hopefully she'll chime in.
My massage therapist swears that massaging the ankle around the achilles tendon stimulates the uterus and can cause contractions because the ankle represents the uterus in Chinese medicine. Who knows? It can't hurt though.
I've also heard that chocolate can help and swimming and nipple stimulation.
Thanks for letting me whine, ladies. I know I need to be patient. I'm definitely going to see if they can strip my membranes at my appointment on Thursday since my DD is Friday. I think in order to do that you have to be dilated at least 1 or 2 cm, so here's hoping I've continued to efface and started to dilate since last week!
Mmmm...eggplant parm sounds good right now...
