In the past 2 weeks A has become scared of things that he's been exposed to before. He loves water but the sound of running water makes him scream and hide his head, as does the sound of an electric razor, electric toothbrush, tinfoil rattling, beaters etc. I assumed that this was normal until a couple of other people saw it and said that it was "weird". I emailed his pediatrician who said that we would "keep and eye on it" and now I feel a little bit like I should be worried.

Re: Anyone elses LO afraid of stuff yet?
Hmm, I don't know if that is weird or not. He does it consistently with all those noises when they are on, or just when they surprise him?
Because Alexander will cry if a loud noise surprises him. Just yesterday, he was lying on my husband's chest, and my husband did a loud joking opera voice. (I have no idea why he did this) His face got so scared and he screamed for ten minutes! (It would have been kind of funny if his face wasn't so sad...just the fact that he was crying at a silly opera voice!)
She is SO afraid of going up/down stairs. She holds her breath for the whole flight of stairs, stiffens her entire body, and makes this face:
(that's not her, but she makes a face just like that every time!)
I have tried exposing her to stairs more, consoling her, etc. and she still reacts like that every time. I think she has a fear of heights already, or she just knows how clutsy I am and is scared I'm going to drop her, who knows!

He is startled by loud noises: DH coughing, cutlery clanging on plates, sudden laughter.
He is afraid of the dark. My sister and I took him to the drive in. He had a freak out when we turned out all the lights in the car. So we covered the interior light with napkins from the concession to dim it.
I stayed over night at my parents and the same thing happened: A would scream if I turned out the lights. I had to sleep with the bedroom door open and the bathroom light on.
@deanandjen That is a hilarious face, even if it's not your LO!
My LO is afraid of our vacuum because it is a loud sudden noise. She also startles when DH sneezes loudly or suddenly uses a loud booming voice.

I slurped my straw the other day and then did it again and again because LO jumped and looked concerned every single time. Not sure that's a fear though...
I was watching HOUSE one day (I'm addicted) and thought he was too little to be affected by TV. That particular episode had some scary zombies on it and I didn't think much of it until he looked up and melted - you that slow, face scrunched turn into a cry thing. You could tell it terrified him. I felt sooo bad and that was the end of my TV watching in front of him. We pretty much turn off the TV or make sure he's blocked from it now.
