IUI after failed IVF?

Wondering if anyone here has had success with IUI after a failed IVF?

 I have to call and set up my WTF appt tomorrow morning. It will depend on what the RE says. I'm wondering if it's worth a shot?

    I haven't tried a post IVF IUI, but just want to wish you luck!  It definitely can't hurt to ask!

    We had a failed IVF and then about 6 months later got pregnant on our own, which unfortunately ended in miscarriage.  So we decided to try some IUIs but they were all negative.  We eventually had success with IVF 2.

    I did...we did five cycles. The first two were IUIs and then we had to convert to IVF for the third because we had too many mature follicles. We had our first chemical pregnancy with that but it didn't last. We then went back to an IUI (a double) and again had a chemical pregnancy. We took a month off -- they made us -- and then went back for a fifth cycle -- another double IUI. And, we're now 14 weeks pregnant with twins!

    TTC since 4/2009 (with RE since 8/10) Got pregnant on our own 12/09. MC 3/2010 IUI #1 & 2 unsuccessful (Sept & Oct 2010) IVF #1 9 follicles, 5 eggs, 4 fertilized, 4 transferred. Chemical pregnancy. Bad news received Thanksgiving 2010. IUI #3 Chemical pregnancy (12/2010 double IUI) IUI #4 Success! (2/7/2011 & 2/8/2011 double IUI) ultrasound 3/8/2011 determined there are four ultrasound 3/17/2011 showed one not developing so we're down to 3 unltrasound 3/23/2011 showed Baby C had stopped developing so we're at twins. Same ultrasound showed good measurement and heartbeats for babies A and B. Due date is Oct. 31, 2011 (for singleton so twins will probably be earlier) BabyFetus Ticker

    I did! We had an unsuccessful IVF and FET the following month that were both c/p. We went back to IUI and it worked! I'm currently 16 weeks.  I've gotten pg with every IUI so my RE said he thinks my body doesnt respond well to IVF as IUI is as close to the "natural" way as possible.

    IUI#1 - 05/20/08 = BFP! M/C - 14 weeks :( baby girl
    IUI#2 - 01/07/09 = BFP!!! Twins!! Pre-term labor 20 weeks :( lost twin girls
    IUI#3 - 1/31/10 = BFP!!!! M/C - 8wks :( again
    IVF #1 - 7/2010 = c/p
    FET - 9/2010 = another c/p
    IUI#4 - 2/14/11 = BFP!

    Worked for us! We did 1 fresh (ended in a CP) and 1 frozen IVF cycle and then decided to take a bit of a financial break and go to IUI's...9 weeks pregnant after IUI#3!!! 

    TTC #1 since 6/08, MFI dx'd 3/09 Varicocelectomy 6/09, Hydrocelectomy 10/09 IVF with ICSI in Jan/Feb 2010 ER 2/7, ET 2/12 - transferred 2 blasts 5 snowbabies Beta #1 = 22 #2 = 19. Chemical Pregnancy :( FET May 2010 ET 5/30 - transferred 3 embies = BFN Fall/10 Went Gluten free + New RE and Clinic IUI #1 + Clomid 50 mg (1 follie) on 1/18 IUI #2 + Clomid 100 mg (1 follie) on 2/15 IUI# 3 + Femara 7.5 mg (1 follie) on 3/14 = BFP!!!! Beta #1 = 172 (15dpiui) Beta #2 =683!!! Ultrasound at 7 wks: 1 perfect beating heart. Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker

    I am so glad that I saw this. I am going through the exact same thing, and I was googling to see if I was nuts, or if it would be possible to work backwards.. After 12 YEARS of trying natrualy with clomid & femara I could only afford to do IVF once. I had 21 ER, 14 fertilized, 2 transfered, NONE of the 12 left over, survived to the freezing stage. I just got AF and my big fat NEGATIVE yesterday. Pretty bummed out and wishing I knew what went wrong.. I can not afford another fresh IVF cycle, none of my embryos made it to freezing, but I still have some of the meds left over, (Menopur, Brevelle,Cetrotide) and am thinking that it may be enough to do maybe 2 IUI cycles. Heck, I paid over $4000 for these meds, and I dont want them to go to waste. Maybe IUI will work after IVF fails. At least I'm telling myself that it will. I wish that there were more success stories on line to boost my spirits about it though.. I will see what my RE says about it.

    I'm in the same boat.  Failed IVF, spent way too much on that show... now considering scaling back to IUI since it worked once before.  Not sure why but responded much better to IUI overall.  Hmmm.... did you go backwards?

    not sure if your checking in... i'm sure your busy- just wondering what worked for you the last time.  i did 5 cycles as well, tried IVF once with it not working and now considering going back to IUI.  i did have success once with follistim and iui.  i'm just curious.  hope those babies and you are doing well!  i have boy/girl twins and love EVERY minute of it!

    YES! I had 4 failed IVF's. Due to my age, 39yrs I went straight into IVF. After the failures, I tried IUI and it worked on my first try. It happens!!!
