Baby has bad breath

To be blunt, his breath smells like poop. I assumed a dirty diaper first, then poop on his clothes, then the cat who was sharing my lap with w. Turns out it's w's breath. Ideas why he's smelly? He had spinach, green beans, and butternut squash for dinner? Could it be a teething thing? No teeth have shown through yet.

I'd guess teething. I've noticed bad breath when my kids were teething as well as when they have a cold.

When J is teething his breath smells like something crawled up in his mouth and died. Teething gets my vote.

You can wipe his mouth out with a wet washcloth or use one of those baby toothbrush things that fits over your finger... that might help get some of the yuck out of there?

This. We wiped gums down when we started solids - and then started gum brushing as soon as teeth poked through. Plus it gets them used to it. I try to wipe/brush his tongue whenever I can too - that's where a lot of the bacteria is.
