When he figured out how to climb out at 13 mos... I'm not sure if that's what you wanted to hear or not. In terms of a plan B for sleeping- do you think he'd sleep on a bed? Maybe with these? (which travel well)
ETA: Is he really closing in on 2 already? It seems like yesterday you were still pregnant!
Is there a roll away crib available where you are staying? They make bigger PNP but I don't know that it would be worth the money if you are only going to use it for this one trip. The only other things I can think of are buying bed rails when you get there and pushing a bed up against a wall and using rails so he doesn't fall out. Or letting him sleep with you. Or, if there is a walk-in closet, making a nice fluffy bed on the floor and putting a gate across the doorway so he can't get out. <----that sounds horrible but I think it would be a safe option.
Can you rent a crib somewhere when you get to HHI? We rented one when we went to Florida in March since we didn't have room in the car to bring the PNP.
We have a tent with a sleeping bag (bought at Target ) that C sleeps in when we are away from home. He loves it! You can also get a bed tent, which actually attaches to the bed (cords under the mattress) so they don't fall off the bed. https://tinyurl.com/6hq6jsk
We have a larger size PNP that you can borrow when you go, if you like. Justin slept in it for naps when he was Sawyer's age. I'm not sure how much S likes to stretch/move around at night, but you are welcome to it if you think it's something you'd like to try.
Does he still sleep well in the PNP? If so, I would just take it:)
Jack didn't travel well, so we barely used ours:(
Would he sleep in something like this, if the PNP won't work?:
Griffin still slept well in a PNP when we traveled for Christmas, LAST YEAR! I will probably get flamed for saying that, but it worked for us. My aunt had a bigger one and he has slept in it since he outgrew the mosses basket. Now that he is in a toddler bed traveling will be a challenge, but he was over 3 the last time we used the PNP.
