What do you want for Mother's Day?

I can't believe Mother's Day is a week away!

What would you love for Mother's Day?  Small, extravagant, realistic, in-your-dreams-only -- whatever you want.

Re: What do you want for Mother's Day?

  • In my previous life I would loved a David Yurman ring...But in reality I have everything I need and want, my sweet baby boy is home with us from the NICUBig Smile

  • Last year DH got me an iPod Touch, I told him that from now on I would love something much more personal (and less expensive), a framed hand print along with a brunch with our families.

  • A day of no baby duties... sleep...sleep...sleep! Smile

Okay maybe a gift card for the spa would be nice.

  • I want something small or practical; I would feel strange getting something extravagant for Mothers Day. Sleeping in and breakfast in bed would be plenty! I think we are going to Longwood for the day this year, so probably won't be sleeping in, but oh well! I would like to get my cheerio encrusted car detailed, and I have tried to drop hints, but don't think DH picked up on them.

ETA - I wouldn't turn down diamond earrings or a GC for a massage or mani/pedi either.

Hard to believe I get to celebrate (or be celebrated?) this year! I'd really just like a card and maybe some flowers from DH. This is all new to him, so I don't know if he plans on doing anything but really, I got the best present a week ago in the form of my precious girl. :)

Plus, DH got me a Kindle as a "push present" so nothing more needs to be spent...babies are expensive!

  • Normally I'd ask to sleep in and go to brunch, but DH and I are currently sleeping in the living room (translation: no one sleeps in) and leaving the house is a total hassle right now.

Instead I'll ask for Indian food takeout, a cupcake, and a necklace from Lisa Leonard.

  • Nothing can really top (in my mind) what DH bought me last yr for mothers day.  It was sort of an anniversary gift (since we were in the hospital on that day for some leakage, lol) and mothers day gift (since baby was born 7days after anny and 3 days before mothers day).

I would love just a card.  I don't need anything.

  • DH keeps asking me if I want him to get me anything for Mother's Day since I will technically not be a mother yet by this weekend (hopefully). But I can't *tell* him whether or not to get me something. I don't expect anything, but it would be sweet if he gave me a card.

That's great that he's already thinking about it!

DH didn't give me anything on my first Mother's Day because he didn't realize he was supposed to.  He went to work the next day and his boss said "so, what did you get Dani for her first Mother's Day?" and DH said "nothing? she's not my mother.." His boss lectured him and poor DH came home feeling like crap.  I felt badly for him, but can't deny that I was disappointed he didn't think to even give me a card.

DH asked me the same thing about our upcoming 5th anniversary.  "You know its our 5th anniversary, do you think it should be a big present?"  I really don't know how to answer that question.

DH is usually great with acknowledging events, anniversaries, etc with gifts/cards. And if Mother's Day was in, say, July I'm sure he'd get me something or do something. I think it's the fact that I haven't had the baby yet that's throwing him because he's not sure what to do. And honestly, I don't know either and I am not the type to get upset over such a gray area, but at the same time I'd be really touched if he did do something. I do appreciate that he is at least pondering it, lol.

Do you ever mention to him things you talk about with other nesties/bumpies? If it were me I think I would say something like "The nest/bump ladies were talking about what they got for their first Mothers Days and a few of them said their husbands got them a really nice card even though baby wasn't born yet. It was really sweet." (something I would do if I were trying to hint to DH I would like a card)

  • I requested a new camera for Mother's Day.  My camera sucks so I've only been taking pictures with my phone...fun times.  I've only been asking for this camera since Christmas...give it up H Stick out tongue

We just had our 5th anniversary and I got nothing, not even a card.  I did get him a card. I didn't see him until 9pm either.  We've never done anything big for our anniversaries and surely have never planned a trip away.  We just aren't like that.

  • A baby!

In all honesty, I can't think of anything I want more. I'm due the 13th and DH keeps asking what I want for a push present and then our anniversary is the 16th. If I get anything it will be a gift for all three.

  • Realistically, I want one of those digital photo frames, so I can see pictures of L all the time.

Unrealistically - to win the lottery or work PT for FT pay or even a maid...

For our 5th anniversary we decided to get one big gift for both of us and we went on a cruise to Bermuda. For our 10th, we are saving up to go on vacation somewhere.

  • For those who aren't technically a mother yet, they have these sweet Mother-To-Be cards.  My DH gave me one the Mother's Day when I was pregnant with Rebecca since she wasn't due until August.

I'd be happy with a nice sentimental gift from the kids.  I'm sure I'll get a card but other than that I'm not sure.

Mother's Day came up the other day as in "holy crap, it's that soon; what are we going to get our Mom's??" and DH asked if he was "supposed" to get me something.  I told him not to worry about it this year, but we'll both be in the dog house if we don't think quickly for our own mothers!!  I wouldn't expect it either way, although I have gotten him a father's day card from the dog before, so a card from the unborn baby is not out of the question.  :-)

At this point--to not have to get up in the middle of the night for a diaper change (if applicable) and for DH to get up with the baby and let me sleep.  If I get something material like that would be nice, but I would totally be happy with sleeping until 8 or 9.

  • DH asked me and I told him I wanted him to make digital copies of all our photos and videos from Evie's first year for the safe deposit box.  It drives me nuts that all of the videos are still on the camera!

Somehow I am sure this will turn into several trips to Best Buy and a $$$ project.

I'd love a card, flowers, or a GC for a massage or pedicure. I have also recently decided I suddenly love Pandora bracelets...mostly for the baby charms since I am going to be anew mommy. But Pandora ends up being so darn pricey...

  • Ideally, I'd love to be holding my baby!

If not, I'd love 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep followed by a 30 minute uninterrupted shower!

This.  I'd love to sleep in and have breakfast cooked for me!  I'm not expecting too much gift-wise, last year I got a Pandora bracelet and that set the bar pretty high.
