2nd Trimester

Update on my unsuccessful ER visit the other day

My doctor gave me a prescription to a local imaging center on Friday. The center said they didn't have any open appointments and didn't seem to understand the word urgent. I called again in the afternoon and they told me a radiologist wasn't on staff to read the results, so I headed off to the ER this morning at my delivery hospital. At first they also tried to deny me the doppler saying I needed an appointment (in the ER!?!) So I fell into a hormonal fit that involved crying and threatening to sue everyone who talked to me that day if I didn't get the doppler and something tragic happened to me on my babymoon. Finally, a doctor and nurse who happened to be pregnant with her 4th child came to my rescue and performed the doppler. No blood clots. They attributed the bruising, swelling, and tenderness to the constant leg cramps I've been getting.

I'm so glad everything is ok and sincerely hope no one else has to deal with such insanity to get this type of confirmation. Thanks for everyone's advice the other night!

  • Aww, that really sucks that everyone gave you such a friggin run around just to make sure everything was ok. What a bummer. I'm glad things did turn out ok though. Hopefully you will be able to relax now.

  • Have a good time on your babymoon! Where are you headed?

The only thing I would suggest would be to make sure that you walk the plane for 5 minutes or so every hour and try to avoid sitting with your knees bent for long periods. I'm glad you know that there is no blood clot, but it never hurts to be safe.

  • I'm glad it all worked out ok in the end, but it did suck that you had to go through all that. I hope you enjoy your babymoon.

  • you need to learn the key words to getting treated in the ER.... repeat "I can't breath and my chest hurts. oh, and im pregnant." LOL! I'm sorry you had to go through that, that must have been awful but im glad everything is ok. feel better soon Big Smile

  • Never underestimate the power of throwing a tantrum.  It makes people feel awkward enough to do anything they can do for you.  It just sucks that sometimes it gets to that point, when all you can do is cry and yell.

My husband always jokes, that if my tears don't work, than he will start crying for me.  Nothing makes a room feel more inclined to help you than people who want to stop seeing a grown man cry.
