I read somewhere they do jackshit to actually improve your butt/thighs, you'd be better off saving your $$. the reason they *might* work is by getting people off of the couch and walking or whatever.
but I do agree with jenn - the reebok ones aren't as hideous looking!

I have the Reebok ones......can't honestly say they do a thing. But on the off chance they do, I'll probably keep them until I hear they're harmful or they wear out.

My mom does and says she loses her balance a lot. But she's old.
I've heard nothing but bad things about them, plus they're very pricey, but I'm sure people would be willing to sell 'em to ya! What size do you wear? My mom wore hers a couple of times and probably would sell hers to you for pretty cheap.
I have a pair. I don't think they do what they say they do, but, they help me a ton. I have a bum knee that gives me a ton of problems and they really help absorb the shock because they are more cushy. I wear them almost every day for that reason alone. I'm ready for my knee to feel better again but until then there is no way I'm giving up my shaper shoes.
DH has the Reebok ones. I don't think he/we realized they were that kind until we got home - he liked them because they were cushy/bouncy. He hasn't had any complaints, but I remember him saying running in them took a little getting used to - that it worked different muscles from just regular tennis shoes. Then again, maybe you're not *supposed* to jog in them.
I have the New Balance ones mainly because a) I needed new tennis shoes, b) I liked the way they look, and c) if they actually work that'd be a bonus. I can't really tell a difference except sometimes when I jog, and who knows if I'm making that up or not.
I have the Skechers tone-ups and they are working well as my everyday tennis shoe and for work-outs. But, I wouldn't go so far as to say that they have toned me up in that area but my thought is every little bit helps! I could feel the difference the first week or two after I wore them but not so much since then.
Just don't go walking in them after you've had a couple glasses of wine. My aunt did this and fell flat on her face with a nice bruise on her face. The wine is probably more to blame than the shoes.
A Physical Therapist friend of mine has said that he's seen a ton of injuries due to those types of shoes. He said he expected to see lots of law suits long-term.

Ditto this. You're not going to get the legs of an East German swimmer just from wearing these, but I did feel some soreness after wearing them for the first few weeks. They are very comfortable. The thing that I like best about them is that the curve on the bottom helps with my (very bad) posture when I am standing / walking. It makes me stand more on the balls of my feet, like one would in yoga, and that aligns my spine better.
As a side note, I really don't like wearing them in the gym, other than on the treadmill. I feel like they make me too wobbly on the elliptical and I don't think they are made for running at all. I use them just for walking.
