Natural Birth

Yoga Birthing Class?

I'm a dirty lurking lurker for the last couple months. We are planning a natural birth. I have read a few books, including "Active Birth" and HypnoBirthing and Ina May. I am really excited and love reading the stories and posts on this board.

I signed up for a Yoga Birthing course in a few weeks. It was cheaper than Hypnobabies, and looked really interesting. Has anyone had experience with it before? Just looking for some insight before the class begins :)

  • I'm actually taking a Bradley Method class because I couldn't find any yoga related birthing classes nearby, but I did buy a few books to read and I have been practicing yoga at home and in yoga classes. From what I've learned so far hip openers are extremely helpful throughout pregnancy and in birth. Having that flexibility and strength in the pelvis will help greatly during the pushing stage and during recovery. I would love to hear what your yoga birthing classes are like when you start going though!

That sounds WONDERFUL. After reading "Active Birth," I started doing Hypnobabies, but it didn't really work with what I learned (and loved) from Active Birth. A Yoga Birthing class would be perfect.
