DS is almost 2 weeks old. I am breastfeeding but I will be returning to work when he is 8 weeks old. I would like to supply the caretaker with milk however, I am being told that if I pump now on top of breastfeeding I will make my body produce more than I need. What are those of you going back to work doing? Suggestions? Thanks!
Re: BF'ing and pumping- 2 week old..working moms come in...
For both kids I did one extra pump per day on top of EBF. I did it at like 8-9am, an hour after feeding. Yes you are telling your body to make more milk, but one extra feeding isn't THAT much. I started at 2 weeks, and had 200 oz in the freezer by the time I went back at 8 weeks.
Your supply will regulate back down once you are back to work anyways. And now I am BARELY making enough... So I'm glad I had the extra!!
