What does implatation feel like and when does it happen?

I have never been pregnant, but this month we started seeing an RE. Clomid 50mg days 5-9 and trigger shot last Wednesday. BD Wed, Thurs, Fri. Saturday morning began cramping, during a time in my cycle that I have never cramped before. I am praying that we are in the beginning stages of implantation...but I have no idea when that stuff starts. If we conceived on Wed could it happen by Saturday already??
TTC #1 since 01/08 Began seeing RE 03/11 SA 03/11 2% Morphology, the rest all good 04/11 HSG, left side appears blocked, but the RE suspects a muscle spasm instead. 04/11 50mg Clomid days 5-9. 4/27/11 US shows 2 follies @ 17 & 21 on left side, so no IUI this month. Trigger shot 4/27/11. Still hoping for our BFP!

  • it happens sometime after you ovulate, and i didn't feel it, and never met anyone who has

  • It's pretty impossible to feel implantation. That's kind of like asking if you felt the egg leave your ovary.

Implantation happens about 7-10 days after conception, so I doubt it happened already.

  • Lurker here from TTGP! Implantation is supposed to happen 5-7 dpo. So theoretically you could have implanted on Saturday, albeit a bit early. It is quite possible, from what I've read, that mild cramping could accompany implantation, although it is rare as is implantation bleeding. GL!!

  • Well, I felt it happen. Wasn't sure that was what it was at the time, but once I got the BFP, I thought about the night my left side in that area was very achy. So achy I had to take tylenol to sleep that night. I have felt when I was ovulating before too. Some people are more sensitive than others, I'm sure of it.

Me too. Mine was a sharpe pain near my ovary after ovulation. It actually woke me up. The next day I had a temp spike (my chart is still in my ticker). I didn't know what caused the pain until I got my BFP. Good luck!

  • It's pretty rare to feel implantation.  I had a classic implantation dip (see chart below) but didn't have spotting or cramps on that day.  I might have had an implantation cramp days before (it was a weird crampy pinching twinge that lasted less than 60 seconds in the shower, similar to premenstrual cramps).

Please try not to obsess too much about the signs.  It's hard, but it will only drive you nuts in the end.

  • I have had ovulation pain once before, and this time around, I felt it, very distinctly, at about the time implantation would have occurred.  I was in the "nobody feels it" camp until it actually happened to me.  I felt it for two days straight (a Tuesday and Wednesday) and got my *faint* BFP on 9dpo on that Thursday evening. It did not feel like menstrual cramping--it felt like pinching/pulling on my lower right side, and it has gradually subsided since then.  I have also read that, as opposed to implantation, it can also be your uterus stretching.  Either way, I knew to POAS because I felt it!

  • I felt it at 6 dpo. I was laying in bed and could not fall asleep, I had a weird twinging going on down there and then cramps afterwards until I fell asleep. I was not sure what it was, but 2 days later I got a BFP, so I assume it was implantation. I thought that if it really was implantation, the HCG would be in my system 2 days later and it was...

Pretty sure I felt mine. It felt like little twinges and cramps in my lower left side. Ive never felt anything like that and then I got my BFP. TADA! I've always been super intuned to my body though.

Actually it's not uncommon to feel when you ovulate. A friend of mine has always felt every time she ovulates. When I was on Clomid, I felt it a couple of times. As a PP stated, I think feeling implantation is as rare as having implantation bleeding.

  • With my first BFP in February, I felt implantation (and it matched up with my implantation dip on my chart). It was a pinching and pulling on the left side of my uterus. BFP came two days later. Unfortunately, that pregnancy ended in a M/C.

I got pregnant the next cycle, but did not have ANY implantation symptoms at all, which made me nervous that I would not get a BFP, but I did have a charting implantation dip.

I don't know, I was on a couple years ago during my last pregnancy and a girl claimed she felt the sperm meet the egg.  I'm sure she felt it implant too!  HA!

  • DH and I weren't necessarily "trying" but we weren't preventing.  About 7 DPO I started cramping, and thought AF was just coming early.  I had mild cramping for almost 2 straight weeks.  Got the BFP, and the rest is history.  It could be implantation. I think every woman is different and more sensitive to different feelings.  GOOD LUCK! I hope you get your BFP and can join me on the Jan 2012 mommies board!

  • Implantation cramping definitely happens. I had mild cramping for 5 days, and also spotted pink/brown for the first 2 days. My period never showed, I assumed that's why I was cramping, so I took a test and voila! BFP.

  • Thank you so much! Its wonderful to have some encouragement and know that I am not crazy.. After three and a half years of BFN and AF after AF, all I want is a positive. I even took a test right after my trigger shot just to see it turn positive, to know that it could happen...here's to hoping!

  • I wasn't charting, but I think it was about 10 dpo that I felt some moderate cramping on my right side for about two days. I assumed it was a remnant of Taco Tuesday but now I think that might have been implantation cramping. It was less painful than a menstrual cramp and only on one side, and eased up when I snuck to a chair (I work standing on my feet) Anywho, I wish you good luck!
