Question for Mom's of boys

Hi ladies. I just came from a good friends house. They have an 11 month beautiful baby girl. They had a pink mini piano for her and are having her mimick little dance moves. It is so adorable! They Dad is a pianist and the Mom dances. So it got me thinking about what me and my Son will share. I know he'll wrestle and play ball with Dad, but I am hoping we can share something, too. The only hobby I have that he may even like running. So, I am trying to wrack my brain and think of what else. What do you ladies plan to share with your boys?

Butting in from first tri, but I have a 21 month old DS and we do TONS together. He likes reading just like I do, we do crafts, spend a ton of time outside when the weather permits, and dance and sing to music all of the time. It is so fun at this age, they think anything you are doing is awesome. Congrats on your little man!

My boys and I enjoy playing board games, watching movies, playing video games, being out in the yard, going to the beach. Mostly anything a girl would like, just not the thing considered girly. When they are small just let yours and their imagination guide you and you will enjoy the play times.

Boys are not all that different when they are little. There is nothing at this age that my DS does with my husband and not with me.

I went to school to be a mechanic, so I hope to share that with our little boy. FI will probab;y have to do all the sports stuff with him, I'm not athletic at all anymore.

you can do all of that with him too. it doesnt have to be a "dh can only do this and i can only do that". dh loves baseball. so does ds. that doesn't mean that I don't go to games or put the ball on the T for him when we're outside.

He can... bake with you, plant flowers with you, sing in the car with you, play a sport or instrument you like.. etc.

Boys definitely play differently with their daddies- rougher, but they need their mommies too so I don't think you'll feel left out.

my nephew will be 7 in september. he's loooooved watching blue's clues and a bunch of other shows with dancing in them. he loves to mimic the dance moves and i gotta say, he memorizes all the steps after one viewing! he's really good! but he's also really getting into sports and the dancing keeps him more nimble on his feet when he plays outside. i would say just try to expose your kids to what ever you can and see what they get excited about. then do what you can to encourage them and join with them. it's awesome that you wanna share something you and your son will mutually enjoy but when you see him really get excited about something, it'll get you excited too.

My son and I read a lot, play card games and board games, and we play outside. I do my best to throw the baseball to him so he can practice hitting, and play catch. One thing that he LOVES to do with me is to cook. Or bake. He really enjoys helping me in the kitchen. Don't worry, you'll find lots to do together.

All kids are different. My DS is very boyish, but he loves to dance with me, go shopping, and bake. He also loves playing guitar with daddy, throwing a football, and playing hot wheels. You will find an abundance of activities that you and your son like to do together... you might be surprised how much you enjoy playing with dump trucks in the dirt.

My little guy LOVES drawing and doing art projects, playing musical instruments (his toy guitar or piano or drums), reading, and going on "nature walks."

Well, my Sister and I were big on comic books, super heros, and Transformers and G.I. Joe, etc. All that boy stuff that most of our friends weren't really into. We still liked our Barbies and stuff, but we liked everything else too.

So, I started DS#1 on Transformers when he turned 3. DH watched some of those too. So i guess I can educate him in that area. I used to play soccer, plus I'm of latin decent.

I don't think you'll have any problem finding something for you and your DS to share. My DS loves to bake, do crafts and work in the garden with me. At the same time, he loves his trucks and playing in the dirt and using power tools like his daddy.

I'm a painter, so I will definitely be finger painting and Play-Doh-ing a lot. I also love to garden, so DS can help me garden (I love little kids in the garden!). We also just found out that our town now allows chickens in city limits, so we'll be getting a couple once we move back (our living situation is awkward right now to say the least). FI grew up with chickens, ducks, guinea foul, a goat, a mini pig, and horses, and now is totally a super nerd. I would really like DS to like outdoorsy stuff like that more. FI also never played sports, and I did, so I'll be the one playing catch and things like that. I've only ever had brothers, one of whom is 12 years younger than me, so I'm not too worried about finding little kid things to share.

I love to sing and when my little boy was in my tummy I sang all the time. Now that he's almost 3 he LOVES country music and he sings and plays his guitar. He picks up on lyrics FAST. He also memorizes books like nothing I've ever seen. lol.

DS and I read a lot. He also lines when I draw shapes, letters, numbers and animals that he can identify. He also tries to draw, mainly successful in making circles :P and he loves to play the piano.
