Hi Ladies,
I'm planning to register at the end of the month or so, and I'm a planner- so I'm starting to make lists and check reviews and things like that. What would a good list be without suggestions from bumpies?! SO... especially for those of you who have had kids before, what are some of your favorite brands and products? I know I have a wide selection on some things, like bottles, strollers, etc...
Re: Registry Prep- Rec your favorite brands/items!
Surprise Pregnancy 02/11!
Boppy (use constantly)
Playtex drop-in bottles (skip the "fancy" ones - you waste so much time washing them).
Nipple cream, if you plan to BF or pump
Snap n' Go (skip the huge travel system)
Snug Ride carseat
Soothie brand Pacifiers
Onesies
Chef coats:
Lansinoh double electric breast pump
Swaddle me
Also, we used the Bundle Me in the carseat all of the time and it was great. I am now reading how they may not be safe and I am torn about them.
ETA: Maclaren umbrella stroller for when they are older

The Avent bpa free bottles with wide nipples are great. Make sure you register for some type of mobile that you can hang above the diaper changing area - a savior for us when keeping DD happy during diaper changes.
I recommend some type of waterproof mattress cover and then also register for small waterproof "lap pads". The mattress cover is a pain in the butt to remove, so we would lay a layer of lap pads (it would take 3 of them to cover) and then put the sheet on. If DD leaked, I would just pull off the sheet and lap pads and not have to worry with washing or replacing the mattress cover.
Also, I'm a HUGE promoter of the Angel Care Monitor. People have you scared to death of SIDS. This monitor really gave us peace of mind.
If you're breastfeeding, be sure and get a good breastfeeding pillow.
- If you plan to BF use My Brest Friend pillow. I find that way better than the Boppy for your BF-ing needs.
- Wubbanub pacifiers (Soothies with cute little stuffed animals on the end)
- Breathable bumpers
- sleepsacks
- sound machine (we use Homedics brand)
- Summer Infant slim handheld video monitor (for all the paranoid parents like me!)
- receiving blankets. We used it for everything from the actual use of it to turning into a quick and clean changing pad that isn't bulky to carry around.
- American Red Cross nail clippers with the magnifying glass. It definitely helps you get past the fear of clipping those teeny nails if they're magnified!
Yes! I forgot all of these. We actually still use DS's sound machine. That thing is great. I plan on buying a 2nd one for the new baby.

Here is my list:
Graco everything (travel system, highchair, PnP, swing)
Playtex Drop-Ins
Medela Pump in Style Breast pump
Boppy Pillow
Those are probably the big ones I can think of. Everything else was various things like blankets, clothes, bedding, moniter, etc.
2. chicco travel system. Washes up great, mine is still in great shape 4yrs later.
3. I like avent brand bottles.
4. of course a boppy, best thing ever
get a lot of onesies, you could go through a lot in one day especially newborns.
I'm a nanny and have used some of these for years with the kids I care for:
Avent BPA free bottles
Boppy pillow (and a few extra covers)
BOB Revolution stroller (expensive but awesome - try craigslist for these)
Carter's onesies (Gerber brand runs very small)
Sleep sacks
Waterproof snap on mattress cover
Bouncy seat with vibration (I've used many different brands and they are all fine)
I had the Chicco travel system with DD, and that stroller weighs 23 lbs.! This time, I am getting a snap-and-go(or whichever one it is that fits many different brands of car seats). If you have a c-section, there is NO WAY you will be able to lift that stroller for a while! But, it IS awesome for trips to the mall, amusement parks, and walks around the neighborhood!
I also switched to the drop-in bottles, and never looked back! Easy to clean!
Get a good stain remover! Spit up stains. I like Shout--squeeze bottle with an orange scrubbie brush on the tip. Or Shout Advanced(blue bottle) for set in stains---but you mustt wash immediately, or it will remove the fabric color!
I loved the My Brest Friend nursing pillow. It straps around your waist so you can go to the fridge, let the dogs in, etc..and never interrupt a feeding.
A glider/ottoman. I thought I didn't need one with DD, and I was wrong! It was our 1st purchase for this child! Look on craigslist...got our set for $100.
