body suites/clothes on registry?

did you pick them out? Or do people just buy whatever? I am looking through baby bargains and feel like it will take me forever to register for the clothes they say you need for the first 6-9 months.

what are you doing?

  • I wouldn't register for clothing, people love buying baby clothes. You can register for generic white onesies and socks and such if you have to, but people usually find it hard to find specific outfits.

  • People will buy whatever clothing they want, regardless of what you register for, so don't waste your time.

  • I did not register for clothes at all.  Inventory changes so often and varies from store to store that most likely the clothes you pick out won't be available when people go to shop for you.  People usually give clothes anyway.

  • Agreed with the other ladies for the same reasons... plus, there are so many other things that people will buy you that you will need more than clothes (i.e. the bottles, carseat, stroller, etc...), and they will outlast the cute outfits that may only get worn once or twice before your growing peanut doesn't fit in them anymore!  Let the people who want to buy clothes pick out what they like, and you can supplement the wardrobe with things you like later on.
  • Don't register for clothing.  First of all, the store people will tell you that it gets very difficult for people to find the exact SKU that you put on the list.  Secondly, people LOVE to pick out the clothes themselves.

You will be amazed at how much clothes you will get at your shower.  People always seem to buy clothes, especially if you're having a girl.

  • Just register for things like white onsies and sleepers. People will buy you clothes regardless of what you register for. Hopefully you get gift receipts so you can exchange. I didn't register for any clothes and I really hope everyone doesn't buy me clothes because girl clothes are "so cute".

  • We didn't register for clothes on our registry at all--we know we're getting tons of hand-me-downs from BIL & SIL (both sexes), and MIL is NUTS about buying baby clothes...not to mention the three showers we're having.  So we decided to leave them off entirely.  We've picked up a couple onesies, and a 5-pack of those front-snap kimono-style shirts in 3-month size, but are holding off buying anything else until at least after our showers, and probably until after baby's born.

  • people will buy you more clothes than you can possibly use on a newborn. I wouldn't register for any. We didn't with DS and people got us tons. If you don't like the outfit you can always exchange it.
