I started my registry online and plan on doing some of it today at the store. I have the 8th version of baby bargains Ill bring with me but is there a good list out there with how many to get of each thing etc. that helped you?
There is one on here, if you click on baby registry at the top and scroll down toward the bottom, there are various lists (feeding, bathing, bedding, etc.) We are going to register today as well. It's pretty overwhelming, a tip I got from the sept. board was to take a break (go have lunch or something) and then go back and finish. Good luck!
The things that I remember being very glad to have were the baby washcloths! They are soft and I needed a ton of them for spit-up, bad diaper blowouts, whatever. And if you have a ton it is easier. I will say I started with about 25 of them.
Also, onsies. I found that the gerber onsies were tighter and so I liked the target brand or the carters brand better. I used onsies every day but I don't live in a very hot climate...
Newborn diapers were too small after about 2 weeks! You are better off with size 1 if you are buying any on your own. People end up giving diapers though, at least in my case I got a ton of them at my shower.
Bottles-- you don't know what your baby will like so maybe pick 3 different bottles and ask for some of each? I tried Dr. Browns, Avent, Playtex and got a gift pack of all. I returned Dr. Browns because the pieces were too much for me but kept the others and found that he loved the playtex with the bag in it the best, who would have known?
Crib/Co-sleeper/whatever your baby will sleep in sheets-- ask for at least 5 sheets! You might wake in the night to a wet baby and need to change the sheet adn it helps to have many on hand.
Good luck registering! The most important things are the big things that you will use every day like the carseat and stroller...think about your lifestyle first. A BOB is great for me to run with but NOT great for me to walk around the mall with...we got a chico 30 x 30 carseat and that allowed us to keep him in it for a year because it was bigger than most of the graco ones we checked out. We got a pack and play with a changing table feature so that I could change him downstairs easier, that helped...we got a travel swing and that was great for our summer vacation and for taking him outside or to a friend's house...so consider your lifestyle.
OH, and I wish we would have considered a baby gate but we didn't and got one later. If you have stairs you will want one that screws into the wall so the baby can't push it down and fall down the stairs. Ours was around $40 and works well.
diapers.com has a good list. if you go to create a registry on there (you don't have to make it public knowledge that you have a registry there if you don't want to) they tell you what you need and how many of each thing you need.
