xp: If your lo sleeps in a rock n play pls come in

My guy was sleeping in the arms reach co-sleeper but I'm getting increasingly concerned that he has mild reflux and he's also been wiggling his way to the padded side of the co-sleeper.  Last night, I put him in the rock n play and we both slept well. My issue with the rnp is that he seems to favor turning his head to the left side.it. When he was in the co-sleeper, I alternate the way his head is turned. I can't do that so well in the rnp.  He also naps in it during the day and I bring it with me when I go into the kitchen or take a shower, etc, so that's a lot of rnp time!

If you use it at night, where does your lo nap during the day? Are you worried about lo developing flat spots?

  • The RNP is the only place my LO will sleep, so she's in it a good portion of the day.  She usually keeps her head pretty straight.  I figure I can't worry too much about it though, because there's really no other sleeping alternative that works for her right now.

  • DD has reflux, and the RNP is a lifesaver.  She sleeps in it at night, and naps in it about half the time during the day.  The rest of the time she sleeps in the swing or while being held.  She pretty evenly divides which way her head faces, so I'm not too worried about flat spots on the sides from the RNP (although she has developed a bald spot on the back of her head).  We're going to try to transition her back to her crib soon, though, since she's on Zantac now and her reflux is under control.

  • DD was sleeping in it exclusively, day and night.  Now we have a swing and bouncy seat downstairs so she is only in the rnp at night.  She seems to lay more on the left side of her head too, but she does wiggle around a lot during the night so I'm not worried about flat spots.

  • my son sleeps in the RNP overnight, but I usually leave it in the bedroom, so he naps in other places during the day.  I try to switch it up- based on convenience and to try to get him used to it.  I try to put him in his crib at least once per day. We also have 2 swings that put him right to sleep and the boppy lounger (which isn't "supposed to be" used for sleeping, but he loves it, so I just keep in in sight.

I save the RNP for night time or a random "quiet nap" if we have company or if i'm trying to nap too.

  • Our 7 week old is in the Rock n Play at night & usually in her swing during daytime naps. No flat spots yet!
