What is your honest opinion

So I am having my second, and it is a boy, my first was a girl.  A lot of people have been asking what I want or where I'm registered, and I thought it was a little wierd to do a registry for a second baby, but I have had a couple people that say it would be nice so they knew what we need for this baby...

What do you think about a registry for baby #2??  If I do it I definately wont be telling everyone where Im registered and broadcasting it, but for the handful of people that would really like it it would be there, and I could just tell them when they ask..???

  • I'm doing one for, as you said, people who insist.  It will only have 5-10 very essential items on it.

  • I would do one to get the registry completion discount, but I think it's tacky to register for a second baby.

  • I have not registered and I'm not sure if I will, but I have thought about registering for the same reason as you.  People are going to want to buy things for the baby, so they might as well buy things that you want and need.
  • I had a son first, girl this time. We registered at Target for like 10 things for the people who ask.
  • I wouldn't do it, and I'm not planning on it if I have another.

  • I registered for #2, and am having a shower.  People like to give gifts and I like to celebrate with my friends and family so why not!  I dont expect gifts though, and I told my friends that there is a registry (if they ask) but they do not need to buy us anything really there for family and close friends who insist on buying us stuff. I also did it for the completion coupons.

  • I made registries to keep track of things I needed for baby and things I wanted. Naturally they're a lot smaller, and I don't tell people about them, but I've found them useful for tracking what I still need to buy and what cute extras I can fit in my budget.

As far as telling people, only one person has asked (and I thought it was weird). I told her, but honestly, I wouldn't have made registries at all just for gifts. Just say you have most of what you need except clothes or diapers or whatever. If you want it as a personal tracker, though, I have found it really useful.

  • I have a wish list on amazon pretty much for myself to keep track of stuff, and I'm doing a target reg for the gift card. So if people ask they are there but I won't be broadcasting it, nor do I expect to have a shower
  • I have them because 1 i have been using it as a list of what I need. I set my due date early to get completion coupons and have started saving and buying stuff. Also for the same reason people have been asking. My list has about 10 things on it. Nothing big just reuseable stuff and things I need.

  • I have a registry and I am having a shower. This is my second but my first is almost 12 so I have absolutely nothing - starting from scratch.

  • I don't see the harm in having a registry to keep track of what you need.

Isn't this hypocritical, or just a confession? You'd do one, but it's tacky?

Or were you trying to say, you'd do one, you just wouldn't share it publicly? What about people who continuously ask?

  • I have a registry because:

    1. My friends are throwing me a shower. It's not tacky in my circle of friends- it's quite the norm as we're mostly all on our second babies...LOL.

    2. All of our family is out of state and want to buy for this baby just as much as they did for the first one. They have no idea what to get so a registry helps them- and they can ship the items free to store.

    3. It helps keep me organized on things we need/want and the completion code is nice.

  • I would if the second is a different gender. There are some specifics that you may want for a boy. It can be small and simple. Noone else has to know if they don't want to know.
