Falling out of bed?

Does your toddler fall out of their toddler bed?  We are in the process of switching L and he fell out last night which  woke him up.  We are afraid that he will continue to fall out and thus keep waking up in middle of the night.

Re: Falling out of bed?

  • He hasn't yet..I rolled up a throw blanket like a sausage and put it under his crib sheet along the edge to prevent him from rolling out. I have also heard of people using pool noodles. It has worked great!

Every once and a while DDs will fall out.  They just crawl back up and go back to sleep.  I don't think I've had to go in at all because they've fallen out.

  • DD has fallen out 2-3 times that we know of and has only been in her toddler bed for 3 weeks.  I've been putting blankets on the ground and also rolling up a blanket kind of under her on the edge without the drop.  At least until DH builds a half rail to keep her in!

  • We put bed rails on each side so he's never fallen out. ETA: sorry - I missed that you were talking about a toddler bed - I was talking about ds's big boy bed.

  • We've went through a transition twice (once from crib to toddler bed w/rail, and again w/the same bed and no rail).  The first night each time she fell out twice and then was fine after that.

  • I used a bed rail and attached it to the toddler bed with zip ties. It fit so there was room at the foot where she could crawl in and out of bed. We switched her at 18 months and removed the bed rail at 2. I helped a lot and now with her twin bed we moved her into last night she hasn't fallen out yet.
