Hi, I have a six year old, who I tried unsuccesfully to breastfeed. Now that I am pregnant again, I would like to give it my all with this baby. I was wondering if anyone had a good resource book to recomend. I already signed up for a class, but would also like to read up on it as well. TIA
Re: suggest a good breastfeeding book
I am in the same boat, I didn't BF my first but really want to be successful this time around. A lactation consultant recommended The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding.
Although I don't agree 100% with the philosophy behind it, has a lot of good info. And, it is pretty easy to locate the topic you need and read that, which is what I have been doing lately. GL!
The womanly Art of Breastfeeding is a good book. I agree I didn't agree 100% but it helped a lot and was a n easy read.
Me, too! It's what I'm reading in my siggy pic :-)
Mac and cheese lover!
My MWs recommended Jack Newman's Guide to Breastfeeding and I've found it really useful. He also has a website with lots of videos showing proper latch, improper latch, good and back sucking, etc so you know the difference. You don't need to buy the book to use the website though, so it's a good resource no matter what book you buy. I also have heard that if you email him with questions someone will actually reply!

Also just wanted to add that even though The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding may have some controversial topics, I've been going to La Leche League meetings for the last couple months and I have found them to be so incredibly supportive and helpful. I started going when I was still pregnant just to get an idea of what it was like - you might want to check out a meeting before LO comes to see if you like it. If so, they are a great source of help!
