CPR/First Aid training

Anyone else taking classes to get certified while pg?  This is my second child but I have started helping a friend with her in home daycare and felt it is beneficial in general.

  • I am CPR/First Aid Certified for work. I think it is definitely beneficial for moms. But that is just MO.

  • I am a paramedic, so I am well versed on it.  But, DH and I have decided that anyone who wants to babysit for us will have to get certified too.  My mom, sister, and very close friends who I have no issues leaving LO with have no problems with our request.  However, my MIL thinks that I am crazy for this and refuses to go.  She doesn't think I am serious.  I am not real comfortable with the idea of leaving LO with her to begin with but this sealed the deal.  Even the woman who will be watching LO after I go back to work is taking the class a month or so ahead of time!

I have seen so many problems, so many ill and dead babies and children because parents and caregivers did not know what to do in an emergency.  I strongly suggest everyone gets educated before LO arrives.  Even if you feel that you wouldn't be able to do it, trust me, you can when the time comes.  Also, if you feel like you wouldn't be able to remember everything, the 911 dispatcher would talk you through it and it would not be brand new information for you, but a reminder/refresher should God forbid the time come that you need it!
