XP: 6 week old choking on expressed breast milk, help!

My LO has recently started choking all the time when I'm feeding him EBM.  He doesn't do it on formula or when breastfeeding.  We are using playtex drop ins slow flow nipples.  I know breast milk is thinner than formula but I'm looking for tips to solve this.  I have to feed him the EBM sometimes because i don't have enough milk per feeding (so I pump extra when he's asleep at night and give to him the next day).

Any ideas or tips?  Other nipple ideas?

Sorry, 1HT

  • We used preemie nipples because DD choked on level 1's. How do you know you don't produce enough milk to nurse exclusively? The best way to increase your supply is to nurse, nurse, nurse and not supplement. LO nursing frequently tells your body to produce more milk. www.kellymom.com has lots of great info about all things bf'ing.

  • Try different bottles/nipple until one of them works better. Also, I agree with PP, nurse as much as possible to increase your supply.
