My doctor uses 130 instead of 140 as the cut-off for 1 hour glucose challenge and so I have to have the 3 hour OGTT for a reading of 133. Anybody else's doc do this?
I feel like doctors should all have the same cut-off. It's ridiculous that they are all different. My doctor's cut-off was 135 and I tested at 137 and had to take the 3hr test. If you are that close I doubt you will fail the 3hr.. I just had to suck it up and take a good book to read.

Mine is 130 also, I passed the first 1hr I had that was early around 16wks, then failed the follow-up at 25wks with 132, they let me retake the 1-hour though since it was such a small bit. I'm surprised they are making you take a 3hr for only 3pts, that sucks!!

Mine is 130, I got a 92. Just take the 3 hour. I'd rather know for sure I am fine, than fight the ob over a few points and develop complications or put my child at risk.
Yes my doc's cut off is 129. I got 130. But then realizing other people got very low scores like 92 of PP made me think hmm... I'm too close for comfort better suck it up. My 3 hour is next Friday morning.
My med group no longer does 1hr or 3hr GTTs, everyone does a fasting 2hr GTT so that no one has to come back and do a repeat 3hr for ambiguous 1hr results. My doc said many more patients pass the 2hr and it has really cut down on failed 1hr GTTs only to have so many people pass the 3hr GTT.
I'm not sure what the cut offs were I just know that I feel within the normal lab ranges so I was good to go.

I failed my first one by two (I ate that morning), took the three hour one and failed two of the four draws, so I'm now labeled with GB. It's always good to go back, even though the three hour sucks, avoiding the further possible complications makes me feel a bit better.
My doctor uses 140 for the 1 hr. He told me that the 140 cutoff will catch 80% of women who have GD and the 130 will catch 90% of those with GD. However the false positive rate goes up (you end up giving the 3 hr to more women who don't have GD).
For patients who land between 130 and 140 (like me), he advises them to be mindful of their diet and exercise.

Mine uses 140, too! I'm surprised that most of them are 130. I got a 138 so according to these other doctors, I wouldn't have passed. My doctor told me to watch my intake of refined carbohydrates and I would be fine. Baby is normal sized so that's a good sign.

I've heard of this, but I don't know what my doc uses.
It doesn't really matter all that much, it's only a screening test so it just means that some docs want to be more cautious than others.

My Dr's office uses the cutoff at 135. I've heard of a lot of offices doing the cutoff at 130 or even 129, though.
Sorry you have to do the 3 hour. I hope you pass!
