I left the US for Scotland today and I've had a stomach ache all day. I got back to the hotel tonight and my stomach looks like I've grown four weeks overnight.
When I press right above my belly button I think I can feel my uterus. Its hard.
I wasn't expecting to feel it that high this early especially as a first time mom. Am I confusing the feeling with something else?
Re: Is this even possible this early?
I think Rachel was posting about this the other day, she's measuring fairly high as well. whereas it seems like there's quite a few of us that are noticing firm lower abdomen, nothing as high as belly button just yet.
Someone posted this link the other day: https://www.umm.edu/pregnancy/000088.htm
It is really cool. It shows you the anatomy of the female body from 8 weeks-40 weeks. Basically in your first trimester your uterus is growing, but it is still very low. However, your growing uterus is pushing your intestines upward. Any bump you feel around your belly button is bowel, not uterus. If you feel a bump above your pubic bone, it could be your uterus. I would think the larger you are, the harder it is to feel your uterus at this point though.
I traveled last week, and my belly grew too. It was firm and slightly uncomfortable, and my pants were tight. But in my case, it wasn't baby. It was travel bloat--I think the combination of air pressure changes in the airplane and then fluid retention and slight constipation/gas was my problem.
Within 3 days I was back to normal (squishy, lol) again.
My belly this week, however, feels slightly tight and...off. My clothes still fit basically the same, but my tummy just feels swollen and I feel odd twinges when I bend or stretch too far. So I really don't know. Last week I could blame traveling, but this week I wonder if it really is baby.
