s/o when to buy nursing bras?...where?

Where are you planning on buying them?  I am a 38 D b4 pg so not sure where I can buy them that will fit comfortably w/out breaking the bank! Have 2 nursing sport bras I wear now b/c I grew some (not as much as I thought I would though - at least not yet!)...bought them at motherhood maternity section on sale at BRU.

  • I would stick with some kind of sports nursing bra at first. I will take a week or two for you to get to your biggest. At that point I would go get fitted somewhere and then buy in store or order online.

     Yes

Target has a couple of nursing bras that look pretty forgiving in terms of size - they are sort of sports-bra style.  I'm planning to get one or two of those for the hospital and first few days at home, then get some "sturdier" ones once my milk is in.

  • I'd wait till your milk comes in to spend any more money.  The 2 you have should be enough for the first few days, then see how they grow.

  • I bought mine at a MM outlet last pregnancy. Hopefully they'll work for me this round too.

  • I don't have many options where I live so I'll just get them from the maternity clothing store.  Big department stores dont really have maternity/nursing stuff at all here!
  • I would buy in stages. I lived in sleep bras for a bit until they were at their full size and bought just 2. After nursing was established at about 6-8 weeks they shrink again so you will need to buy again and this time they will stay about that size until you wean.

I was window shopping nursing bras when I was buying a few last weekend. I hated the ones I bought last time they were like being bandaged. I was happy to see at JcPenney they had some cute ones bras that looked normal. They recommend you don't do under wire because they can cause a clogged ducts. I did buy one for when I need to wear something where I needed a lift. I have large boobs so that might be part of it.
