I'm planning to buy a new nursing pillow this time around. I had a Boppy with DD#1 and as a newborn, it just didn't work well for me and I could never get DD in a comfortable position...I actually ended up injuring my shoulder as a result and spent a year getting treatments for it.
That said, I'm considering My Brestfriend (ugh, what an awful name) and the Balboa nursing pillow. Does anyone have any recommendations or reviews of either?
Re: Nursing pillows--maybe 2+ mom question
I have the my breast friend and Boppy.
I preferred the boppy, but LO was small and my breasts are huge. It made it easy to angle her to my breast.
The my breast friend I ONLY used in my bed to feed her at night. It was .... I dunno.
Her head went up high, so I had to raise my nipple to her mouth- you know what I mean? And although it was supportive to my lower back (I remember my back aching from leaning over to breast feed at times without the boppy) it also meant I had to sit STRAIGHT up which wasn't really comfy either.
I know a lot of people swear by them, but I am petite (5'2"), have LARGE breasts (F-G cup) and she was tiny, so the boppy worked better for us. If she had been larger or I was taller I am sure the breast friend would have worked better. Also, taking the cover on/off to wash wasn't the easiest, either.
Hope that helps somewhat.
Thank you! I actually am also petite, but more like a size A, so I was always trying to boost my DD up higher and strained my shoulder doing this (since is seemed like the Boppy was always smooshed down too low). I was hoping one of the other ones would be more supportive and maybe hold the baby a bit higher! Of course, I know that I could have layered pillows underneath...but that seemed too cumbersome to bother with!
