3rd Trimester

Working up til due date-who is with me?

Good morning ladies. I was just curious who is working up until their delivery/due date and if you did in the past how did it go?

I am a high school teacher and Im getting a little nervous because my due date is a week after we start the second semester. I am just hoping that I can make it through finals (end of first semester-I will be 38-39 weeks).

I know the baby will come when he wants to but Im just a little worried about the situation.

Re: Working up til due date-who is with me?

  • me!  Everyone keeps asking me when I'm going out on maternity leave...I just keep saying, when my water breaks!

  • I am going to try to, but am willing to stop earlier if it sucks. hehe
  • my plan is to work til the end!

  • I'm due on Friday and this is my first day off. I think I could have worked today....it's just nice to be home. Since it doesn't count against my maternity I am going with it.

     Good luck!

  • I am working up until the end
  • Moi.

I am hoping to go until my due date b/c I'm a p/t student and the semester ends three days before my edd.

  • I was originally planning on working up to the end, but I'm just miserable.  Not that I'm all huge or anything - I just really am not dealing well with normal day to day stress.
  • my plan is to work until the end. but, i'm due on Dec. 29, so i could end up going into labor when i'm out for the holidays (between Xmas and New Year's) anyway... so we'll see what happens.
  • I worked up til my due date with my first DD and I am this time too.  I do my own daycare now (I had a regular 9-5 job with my first pregnancy though) and I am planning on working straight up until either the day of induction or til I go into labor on my own. :D
  • I plan on working right up till I go into labor.  My mother who is a nurse (which is a physically demanding job as we all know) literally worked her 3-11 shift and came home and began counting her contractions while eating a cheesburger after her shift when pg with me.

I work a 9-5 job so my situation wouldn't be like hers, but I want as much time with the baby so don't see the point in taking off before she comes, just to sit around and wait...I'd go crazy.  That's just me though.

  • With my 1st I worked up till the end. I worked Friday and had him on Sunday. I plan to with this one. This older lady was telling me that back in her day they would taked off like 3 weeks before they were due! It wasn't that hard to do.
  • I am. I work at a desk, so I'm really just sitting here all day. What would be the difference if I was at home sitting? I'll work right up until the end, unless I get put on bed rest or something, which I doubt.
  • My due date is 12/22 and I plan to work until this baby is born or Dec 31st - which ever happens first =) As long as I can handle the office I don't see any need in taking the time off.

  • I'm working up til the end. My motto is, if I can sit at home, I can sit at work and not use up my precious maternity leave!! :)
  • I am going to work till the end. I do not want to use up any leave until after the baby is here!
  • as of today I am working past my due date...

I plan to stop one way or another on Wednesday though. My doc will be inducing by the end of the week though

  • I'm working up until my due date, or until I go into labor- whichever comes first.
  • Barring some reason that intercedes between now and then (like birth), I'll be working up until my due date.  I really don't want to use up my paid time off beforehand if I don't have to.

  • I will be working until I walk through the doors of the hospital.  I got myself set up to work from home when needed so that I can do that.  If I am being induced I will even work from home that day until I head in.

I want the max time with our little one...I don't want to use FMLA time to wait for her.

  • I'm planning to try. I don't want to use up the time unnecessarily before the baby's born.
  • I'm with you! I have two weeks until EDD and I was doing pretty great and didn't think I could get any more uncomfortable until I woke up this morning!

We can do it! Or so I keep telling myself....

  • I was originally planning on stopping work a week before the baby's due date, but I've gotten everything done & realized I'd just be sitting at home bored.  If I had to go back to work there is no way I'd take maternity leave early though, I'd want to save all that time for the baby.
  • I will be working until I go into labor or am induced. I'm due December 5th but they will induce me at 39 weeks due to GD (if I don't go before then). So I will probably have a November baby if the docs feel it's necessary to take baby exactly at 39 weeks (the day after Thanksgiving!).

  • That was the plan for me. But my mom is going to come up for X-mas, (EDD= 28th) so since she will be here I will probably stop work a week early. I figure being pregnant will be the best excuse I will ever have not to work so close to X-mas. I might as well use it.
  • I'm working until he shows up!  I don't want to start using my maternity leave too early.
  • I am, but just today I'm feeling like crap and starting to have second thoughts.  Hopefully I'm having a bad day and things will be better tomorrow.  My lower back is killing me, I pee constantly and my joints are stiff.  I'm drinking a ton of water (which explains the peeing) but it's not helping much.
  • I plan on working until the end, but at my last appointment, my doctor mentioned that I may have to go out early due to swelling and elevated blood pressure.
