Crocs shoes

Anyone put their LO in crocs? DS doesn't walk yet, but he stands and take steps. Crocs aren't super pricey and I thought they might be a good summer shoe but I am afraid they might be a waste of money since they might not work well when he starts walking. Anyone have their walker in Crocs?

Re: Crocs shoes

  • I do! He has the super cheap ones from Target brand though. They have the little strap that you can hook around the back, so they work pretty good! Great shoes for when we go to the beach or pool.

  • My girls have a lot of them from my MIL, but I find that they are so much bulky rubber that even they fall a lot when they run in them, so I don't think I'd put a new walker in them.  My daycare also requests not to send them in Crocs.  I'd say, the less shoe bulk, the better for toddlers.

Maybe I will check out the cheaper Target ones first. Good idea!

That is what I am afraid of. Any good suggestions on summer shoes for a learning walker?

  • My sister had to take her 4 y/o to a specialist because her DD was toe walking.  The specialist was adamant that crocs were pool shoes only and should not be worn as a regular everyday shoe.  He advised her to do the same with her younger DD who had no issues with walking.  We have a few pairs that have been given to us.  I can say that my kids trip and fall more in crocs then they do any other shoes we own.  Also every school I have worked at has banned crocs because the kids are more susceptible to accidents/falls in them.  Between my sister's dr and my experience, I would stay away from them in a beginning walker.  I have always liked the shoes and sandals from stride rite.  Pricey but I wait for sales or coupons.

  • We bought some for DD to wear as pool shoes, she likes to wear them around the house once in awhile, but I don't think that they're very good for playing in since they slide around so much.  I bought super cheap ones at Toys R Us ($7-8).

  • I bought him some from Target that work.  See linky below.  They have some Cherokee one's too, but these Osh ones had a little less rubber bulk to them.

If he's just starting to walk, I think the leather Robeez, or Target leather shoes are just fine too.  I've always heard new walkers are best in anything close to bare feet.

  • I'd probably stay away from Crocs for a new walker like pp have mentioned. Personally i'd look for something like these...

we used robeez/mini stars (target version of robeez) when LO was just walking then moved to a stride rite shoe.

  • If you get Crocs make sure your LO can try them on. The smallest size is 4/5 but they run HUGE. My DS where's a 4 and they are gigantic on him. He actually fits in the Croc Littles size 2.

  • Collin loves his and I really think he does love the shoes. He wats to wear them every day. He is a lot more clumsy but whatever.
  • no safe we bought sandles that strap on so he doesn't fall

  • My LO is in crocs, at least the ones from PayLess. He loves them and doesnt want to take them off. I was looking for summer shoes too, and when he saw them in the store he wanted to put them on and wouldnt take them off.

  • I have seen so many injuries with toddlers wearing Crocs, that I would really not consider them with a questionable/fairly new walker (within 6 months or so.) The best sandals for kids this age are Teva types. GL!

  • I have a pair for myself but I won't put DS in them. They don't have good support/traction and if the ground is even slightly wet it's easy to slip.
  • Crocs are great for babies with puddgie little feet. My baby has super narrow feet and I tried them on him. There was so much room on either side of his little narrow foot.
