Hey girls!
Last night I woke up with severe cramping that wouldn't go away. I drank a ton of water and it helped some, but it didn't help a ton. I woke up and felt sick all day yesterday - lightheaded and nauseous. I went to my OB and they did an u/s. Baby looked fine and my cervix was measuring just fine. Nothing was out of the ordinary. They sent me home.
Tonight, I woke up with the cramping again. I have had diarrhea and that helps the cramping, but it does come back. The cramping last night was more like AF cramps. Tonight the cramps are higher (more like my stomach). I called the OB on-call. She said she is not worried about PTL. She believes it's a GI bug and that is causing the cramping. My DH is out getting Imodium now.
She said don't go to the ER or worry about PTL unless I have severe (unable to walk or breathe) cramps and/or bleeding.
Thoughts? Just want to make sure this baby stays safe for many more weeks.
Thanks!
Re: Does tihs sound right (GI bug vs. PTL)?
It sounds like a bug to me. I would think that your OB would have seen changes in your cervix if you were contracting enough to feel uncomfortable. I would go get checked out if I felt bad enough I couldn't sleep. I had an irritable uterus and wanted to run to L&D several times a week, because my BH were so strong starting at 16 weeks. I never went, but I really wanted to.
My thought is, that if it is serious, I want to get seen sooner than later. Best case scenario, you end up looking like a neurotic pregnant lady, there is nothing wrong and have a co-pay. You are one of many they see every day, and at least you can be reassured that you are ok. You are in charge of your body. I will say that there are really sick people at the ER and you will risk exposing yourself. If you think you can wait until morning, then I would and insist on being seen again by the OB. Not sure if that helped at all. Take care, I am sure it is nothing.
Thanks! I waited it out through the night and it seems to be a bug. I feel better this morning and at least food is staying in me now.
Thanks for all of your advice - this is all such scary stuff sometimes!
