Ok, so I know I am not too far along but I found a nursery set on craigslist that is an incredible deal. I sent my parents to look at it since it is close to their house and they said it was very nice/sturdy etc. The family that is selling it is super nice and has taken really good care of it through their 3 children. They will sell the crib, dresser/changer, glider and some other fluffy extras for $350. Whoah, what a deal, right? Here is the thing though. It is a honey oak color. I always had in mind I would do espresso or dark cherry. Even though I would be somewhat settling, I could make the honey oak color work. What do you think, should I buy it because it is such a good deal? Or should I shell out more $$ for the actual color I want for the nursery!! I need to make a decision within like 2 hours!! Help.

This.
personally i wouldn't buy a used crib, especially with the new safety regulations coming out in June.

but i would purchase the other pieces and then buy a new crib that matches it.

Great idea... BUT I have to say only undertake it if you are crafty and committed. I started a project like that with a picture frame last year and after 15 minutes, I wussed out... The picture frame, sand paper, and stain are still sitting in the closet! I guess I really, REALLY hate sanding! LOL
My other word of caution is to check out the safety standards. If the crib has been used for 3 children it may be a drop side, which are no longer sold due to safety issues. Of course millions of children survived drop side cribs over the decades, but it is something to think about! Also, if it's been taken apart and put back together many times, it may not be as sturdy as it first appears. At the same time, that price is FANTASTIC!
I wouldn't take a used crib, especially one that's been used by three kids in a family I don't know.
I'd take everything else though - even without the crib, that's a good deal.

Same. I'd never take a used crib -- from anyone, let alone people I don't know.
You can get a Graco Lauren or Sarah for like $150. I'd rather that than chance it.
It is a great deal, but I'd stick with what you really want and try to purchase new reasonably priced items. Or, you have plenty of time, so an espresso colored set may come available, if you still want to purchase it used.
My espresso furniture: I got the Baby Mod Cadence crib at Walmart, they have a bundle with mattress for $200. Changing table with 3 drawers is Storkcraft Tuscany available at Walmart, but I got the cheapest deal on Amazon for $150. Walmart/Target have several options of gliders to choose from in the $150 price range. Total, you'd be spending $150 extra, but I think it'd be worth it to have the espresso color that you really want. I also considered that I would continue using the crib as a convertible into a toddler bed and full size when he grows up (FYI - the Baby Mod comes with all conversion parts and rails).
