What's your favorite method of escape?
I've been blown away by the response to the royal wedding. I've never been a celebrity watcher and just don't "get it" but I do totally get that it's a fun form of escape. A hobby so to speak.
So - what's your guilty pleasure. What do you do for escapism?
(aside from the boards obviously)
gaming, reading, exercise, celebrity watching, fashion mags?
Re: Poll for all! (come on out you lurkers!)
I'm a hard core reader.
I'll sacrifice sleep for a good book but no way in hell am I setting an alarm to watch a wedding. Even my own!
Downloading the kindle ap to my phone has only made me worse.
I loooove escaping into a good book or story!
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
I love baking, cooking, reading, watching tv/movies, and taking walks.
Kinda sounds like a personal ad. LOL.
My healthy escape is reading and my unhealthy escape is wine.
I'm a reader as well...for escaping reality, which is why I never read serious books or anything that's going to make me cry or think. Get me hot and bothered? Yes please! I've been on a big fantasy/supernatural kick lately
Can't get much more removed from reality than that
You and me both, sister!
I've got a book on parenting boys on my night stand that hasn't been touched because I've been reading some major porn-like fan fiction on my phone.
And listening to a porn-like book in my car during my work days.
Funny to combine supernatural and smut but it works amazingly well!
I'll have to share my latest book series find with you once I get a bit further into it and feel comfy recommending it.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
I can get into bad tv (think anything on Bravo) and some wine.
I also enjoy reading, but I never make time for it while I'm in school, unfortunately. I actually went away for a girls' weekend with my mom and sisters a few weeks ago and read two books in three days. I tend toward nonfiction, but am always on the lookout for a good novel too.
My other escapes are shopping, going for walks with DH, DD, and my dogs, and date night with DH at a nice restaurant.

2010: 2 IVF's,1 FET = 2 BFN's, 1 c/p

I love celebrity news - I cjheck people.com, eonline.com and usmagazine.com daily to get my fix.
I also love to watch anything on Food Network (my DH calls it "food porn").
I am a HUGE reader, but recently went through a few months when I didn't open a book:( We leave for babymoon on Tues, and I'm hoping to read at least 3 new ones:) I'm a huge fan of memoirs, and historical fiction, as well as nice fluffy no-brainer chick-lit books:)
I also LOVE to sew, but haven't done that in months either. It is a major escape for me, but since putting our condo on the market, my sewing "crap" can't really be left out, and it's too hard to put it away each time I'm done.
Home Decor magazines/blogs, etc.
And I love reading but I have to only allow myself to start a book when I know I have time to read pretty much steadily for a few hours. I would say I am as close to a reading addict as you can get. I inherited from my Dad. When I am reading, my house could be burning down around me and I wouldn't know it.
Sadly, television and eating. Who in the world has exercise as a guilty pleasure????
I also love reading trashy gossip magazines but I only allow that while waiting to see doctors.
Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12
Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck. Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.
This Cluttered Life
Alcohol.
If you mean besides that it would be reading or watching tv/movies. I swear i act like i know the people on tv. Pretty sad, probably.
ETA: I forgot about spending money. Feels so good at the time, but it's hell later
Joey, Ronnie, and Audrey,
my awesome IUI 30 week twins, and my surprise miracle
LOVE my SAIF ladies
I LOVE to blast my music as loud as I want and just sing and dance to it without worrying who's watching. I haven't been able to do that (since I'm in an apartment and my kids are always in the car) for a long time. It's my biggest method of escape.
Otherwise, I read. If my family is home, we play card games. If I can sneak it in, I take a super hot long bath and just read for a little while, usually laying back with my ears underwater so it's just silent. Silence is cherished these days.
