I don't post too often but just wanted to let everyone know that I have an outside baby. I was induced Monday night at 10pm (we live a good hour away from the hospital) at 1cm dilated, at 4:30am I was 4cm, got an epidural and sat at 4cm until 6am, I was having horrible pressure in my back/butt and told the nurse something wasn't right. she checked me again at around 6:45am and I was 8cm and 100% effaced, a few seconds later my water broke and a few seconds later I was 10cm and she was coming. My dr was stuck in school traffic so I had to "hold her in". DR finally ran in(getting dressed) at 7:35am, she was born 7:37am on Tuesday. 7lbs 14oz 19 inches long. We are in North Alabama and with all the tornadoes we lost power and had to camp out in the nursery most of the day yesterday/last night. Power will be out here for several days. We were discharged at 10:30 this morning and it took 4 hours to get home (should have been an hour). The tornadoes have destroyed so much, I am so thankful that it missed our hospital and our home(barely). We are just thankful to be alive and are praying for the people that lost their lives.
Good luck to the rest of you May mommas, see you in 0-3 ![]()

I'm so glad you're ok. I live in Chattanooga, TN and we had the same line of tornadoes come our way. Thank God we were spared any damage, but so many people lost their homes. My two boys and I stayed in a closet for most of the night.
By the way, I had my second son during a tornado, so I know how you feel. I had a spinal block and couldn't move. Talk about being scared.
Congrats on your DD!
Glad y'all are alive/okay & didn't sustain any storm damage. Yesterday was a terrible day...
At first I thought your post meant you went into labor due to the tornadoes. With the drastic change in barometric pressure- L&D is typically packed out when fronts come through like that... From 7:30-10:20, my prodromal labor picked up with about 3 hours of patterned contractions but then phased off. No one else on the AL Board has mentioned going into labor/having changes, but I won't be surprised to hear they're packed out in the hospitals when I see my OB next week.
