I'm probably going to get some side eye for this story but it amused me so I thought I'd share anyway.
I went to get something out of the pantry and an almond M & M fell on the floor. I admit I have an addiction to the things but have no idea where this one came from. I have a new bag but haven't opened it yet.
I saw it fall but had my hands full. DS snatched it up. I tried to get it back (hello choking hazard) but he curled his little hand and wouldn't let it go. I thought he'd put it in his mouth and was prepared to either fish it out or just watch him eat it and make sure he didn't choke.
He kept opening his hand and looking at it but he didn't eat it. Finally he tottered off to the kid room with his M and M in tow. I followed him in there again to make sure that if he dropped it I could get it or if he ate it he didn't choke.
He kept opening his hand and looking at it but then started putting it in and out of the cab of his toy truck and laughing while saying "uh oh." He also took it and put it in his sister's dollhouse.
I put my hand out and said "thank you" (this is what we do when we want him to give us something he has but shouldn't ((like our cell phones)). It's easier than wrenching something from his grasp and usually diffuses a situation before he throws a fit because we took something away.
He brought it to me but instead of putting it in my hand he stuck it in my mouth. This is not unusual it's another of his games--give me stuff and have me eat it. So I ate it.
He burst into tears! He kept trying to force my mouth open to get it back. He was sad for about twenty minutes.
I'm sure I'm a horrible mother for not wrenching it from his grasp to begin with but I kind of wanted to see what he was going to do with the thing! I thought for sure he'd eat it. Nope. It was his buddy.
Re: Today my DS fell in love..with an M & M
You ATE his TOY!!! How COULD you?!?!
That is a *really* cute story!!!
Mom, why are you washing my feed in the sink?!
I know! I'm a monster! My brother thought it was gross that I would eat anything my kid had handled all afternoon--but what else was I going to do? It was an m and m...in my mouth! It was instinct I swear!
Normally he laughs like it's the funniest thing ever--today it was a dark day indeed.
