Braxton Hicks :(

So I'm almost 32 weeks experiencing what Im pretty sure are Braxton Hicks, but since this is my first, I'm really not sure.  My WHOLE tummy tightens for what seems like forever and gets super uncomfortable.  It's not like it lasts for a few minutes...its very long lasting.

I am a teacher so I am on my feet all day and don't have a chance to lay down or take a break.  Is anyone else experiencing BH like this and what do you ladies do about it??

  • I've had them for the past 11 weeks.  For me, drinking tons of water each day (over 100oz) keeps them to a minimum.

  • I'll have to try this, thank god my classroom is right across from the restroom!

  • i have been having these for a long while, though they are far more now.  especially tight up near my rib cage lately.  they are not that long lasting though.  usually 10-15 seconds.

I agree. When I drink a ton of water, I rarely get them.

The water is not helping me...seriously I drink 4.4 liters of JUST water...that's not including my drinks with meals... :(

  • I would definitely try the water. Also, usually if they are BH, they tend to go away if you change positions, for example if you lie on your left side (not something you can do at work, though). However, if you feel like there is any sort of rhythm to them, call the doc immediately. I thought I was having BH and was going back and forth between calling and not calling because they were coming at intervals. Eventually, DH convinced me to call, and I found out that they were not just BH. When in doubt call!
  • Yes and I am also a teacher.  Make sure to drink cold water, although it hasn't done squat to stop mine.

  • Yep- that's them. You're lucky they didn't come until now..I started back around 20ish weeks. Try to drink a LOT of water- I find that helps a little. I'm a teacher too...so I know it will be a PIA to have to pee a lot..but heyy- it is what it is!
