On the weekend I got the Baby Bargains book. I want to have a good idea of what I need when I eventually (fingers crossed) get KU. Since then, I've picked out just about everything I need/want. The big thing I would like is the Uppababy Vista stroller. Anyone care to share what they are looking forword to getting

Re: GTKY Cart before horse post
I had seen this round, antique white, wrought iron bassinet complete with ivory satin bedding at a baby boutique in my hometown - which, because of their insane prices just went out of business. The bassinet was originally priced at $2500 and before they closed, they were asking $700 to clear out inventory...my parents told me it was bad luck and I'd find it again.
I really hope I find that again - I seriously still think about it and have never seen anything like it.

i bought the baby bargains book too, but haven't looked through it yet.
I think the thing I'm most excited for is to buy little baby shoes. They are just the cutest little things!
I also have almost everything picked out. I think I am looking forward to the crib and travel system the most.
I know what carseats I will be getting but I cannot decide between this:
Britax b-scene
Or this:
I have everything planned out in my head. Nursery for a girl I want pink and navy blue, for a boy I want navy blue, red and yellow.
I want a baby jogger stroller. But I do love the uppababy vista, in maya (yellow). It was only made last year, so they are very few out there.
Oh well, I know what I want. I have been researching for a 2.5 years.
Nursery decor
I already have it picked out: jungle theme for a boy and pink ponies for a girl. I like to look at sites like Babies R Us for fun. I save things I really like in a special 'baby' folder in my fav places. That's as far as I'm letting myself go though...I'll wait 'till I'm actually KU to buy stuff.

Also, if I ever have a DD, she HAS to have this bedding!

I just read something on the WSJ The Juggle board that made me re-think my desire to shop for cute baby gear. Just like weddings, "preparing for a baby" has become this giant, mostly unnecessary time to spend ridiculous sums of money. (Heck, that's primarily why this website exists--to sell all of us unnecessary baby crap.) I just want to take a baby home; I don't care if he is in a McLaren or wrapped in an army blanket.

Took the words out of my mouth. My degree is interior design (although I don't use it in my current line of work) and I LOVE decorating my house. I've had my nursery theme/decor picked out for years. Can't wait to actually get to bring it to life!

lilmrs: personally, I'd rec the travel system (the second picture) unless you jog every day. The travel system has been a life saver for me!
Jason & Robin: (I think that's your bump name ha ha) I've heard that if you're in a car accident and you have car seats inside the car at the time (I hope that everyone was okay btw) that the car seats are immediately considered "totaled" (i.e. un-usable) because of potential safety issues, so I'm glad you got new ones!
As for me, if DC #2 is a boy, I'll have to buy boy stuff 'cause my house has a ton of girl stuff right now LOL. Otherwise...probably a new crib considering the one I have now is drop-side (DH and I fixed it up so that the rail is stationary but it converts to a toddler bed so we'll just do that and buy a new crib just to be safe).
It's not just about cute items. I bought the baby bargains book so I could know what is safe as well.
Yes, there are things that are vastly overpriced because they are a "baby" product.
LOVE the UppaBaby Vista! That's the only piece of equipment I know I want.
