Austin Babies

s/o ergo

I should probably stop buying so much baby stuff - I now have a baby k'tan, a beco, and an ergo (but I found good deals for all of them!). do you think I need the infant insert for the ergo? I was thinking of using the ergo more when the baby was bigger and using the k'tan while he's a newborn. thoughts?

Re: s/o ergo

  • Since you have it, I'd use the K'tan while he's little.  I moved him up to the Ergo when he started to get too heavy for me to carry him around in the K'Tan.  the thing I like about the Becco though is that it's got more neck support for a sleeping baby with the little tethers you attach from the headpiece to the straps than my Ergo but I think I might have a bit of an outdated model because my co-worker has an Ergo and looked at me funny when I tried to explain my issues with the sleeping hood that's on my Ergo.

  • We only used our Moby the first three months. Now that DS is bigger and it is warmer, we use our Beco Gemini all the time. Ditto the comment on the head support.

  • Wait, wait, wait. You don't have a BabyHawk??? You *definitely* need a BabyHawk.Stick out tongue

Ditto the others. I might be a rare breed, but I didn't like the ergo in early days. I didn't like the location of the clasps and front carries were hard for me w/ that particular carrier. BUT, it's super comfy for older babies/ back carries.

  • I have an ergo infant insert if you want it - no charge.  I only used it about 6 times. We didn't get out much. I live south... I've seriously been thinking of posting it on here so, I'm glad to have read your post.  email me at karenbrooks  a t  hotmail d o t c o m

I can't speak for the other carriers but I LOVE the ergo. I have a 7 month old and it's so comfortable. He slept for 4 hours once as in infant in the carrier as I walked around the house and did housework.... if that doesn't sell you!

  • I hated (read: HATED) the infant insert. Like with a passion. I could never figure it out and spent way too much time messing with it. I had my SIL mail me her old Bjorn so I could just use that until DD fit in the Ergo (which I've only used 3 times). Fortunately I kept the packaging and BBB took the insert back. Man I hated that thing.

I would definitely take you up on the offer if we still lived in Austin! Thx though, maybe someone here would be interested. I'm sure you could get at least $10 for it on eBay.
