First prenatal visit at 11 wks??

They scheduled my first prenatal visit at 11wks??  Is this normal?  It seems like most people here are being seen at 7 or 8 weeks!  This practice (two OB's and a midwife) is the best in the area I live in so I'm willing to wait, but that seems pretty far off. The 1st tri will be almost over by then.  Luckily I've already seen the HB on an U/S so I know LO is okay.

    I had mine at 12 weeks. Do not worry, it is normal.

    It really varies by doctor. Some doctors schedule between 8-10 weeks and some schedule you more around 12 when you're coming to the end of the trimester. As long as you aren't experience any problems, 11 weeks is fine. Usually when people go in earlier than 7 or 8 weeks, it tends to be because they have a history of complications.

    I got lucky.  I have been going to a infertility center for months.  After my HSC (?), we conceived on our own!  Because I was going to the center, they kept me on.  I get an ultrasound every week until 9 weeks, but then my reg OB will do one after.  I would be freaking out if I had to wait until 11 weeks!!

    With DS we didnt get in until 10 wks. This time I'll be around 8-9 wks. But we go in for an ultrasound around 10/11 wks to determine how far I am.

    It just depends on the doctor.  Mine usually has their first appointment between 8 and 10 weeks.  They had an opening at 8 weeks, so my first appointment will be next week.

    My Dr. doesn't even normally see until around then.  Due to vacations and such at the Dr.'s office however I don't have my appointment until I'm over 13 weeks.  With DD my first appointment was at 12 weeks so it is normal...I don't like it, but that's how it goes and I love my Dr. so I'll wait.  I really do wish I had an u/s though just to ease my mind for now.  I have a lot of symptoms, but I want to see that beautiful little heart beating!

    Because we're military, we don't have much choice on doctors. The standard window is 10-12 weeks for the 1st u/s and I got lucky enough to get an appt. when I'll be 9w4d. 

    I'd feel a lot better if I could just see that heart beat...

    No worries!!! I'm a nurse and work very closely with many OBGYNs. I chose a well-respected doctor who I trust very much and many of my coworkers go to him or someone from his clinic as well. They are the best in my area as well. Their clinic does bloodwork around 7-8 weeks and first prenatal appt at 10-12 weeks. My first prenatal appt is 11 weeks. This is very normal for many clinics.
