I've been trying to get my girls to eat more finger foods that aren't puffs, and to also drink at least some of their bottle of formula from a sippy.
Today I started out with their bottles, which they both messed around with, and half way through refused to drink. So I took them away and gave them each a pretty big pile of chicken and mixed veggies, and them poured the remained of their formula into sippy cups. They ate and drank everything themselves! Including a half of a pear each, and wouldn't even let me feed them any of their baby food (which they didn't really need anyway)!
In the last couple of weeks they both got their top teeth in and I swear it makes a difference. They're getting so big! I love that they fed themselves for lunch, but I have to admit there's a little pang in my heart about it too. I also think it's funny how they both decided that today's lunch would be this way for both of them!
Re: Well that was an interesting lunch...
That's awesome!! Teeth really do make a difference
We are having the opposite problem at my house, my son has decided to boycott everything I try to feed him. Usually I give in and give him something else, thinking he's too young to understand "you either eat this or not at all" but after talking with some friends I guess I need to be more firm in showing that THIS IS DINNER and not giving in with other options until he decides to eat something. So tonight will be the first night of "eat what's on your plate cuz I'm not giving you anything else" I'm so sick of making more than one meal, even if it is just to toss together a quick sandwich or something for him.
Sorry to hijack your post, just seemed like maybe a relevant place for my little vent haha
No problem at all! Good luck tonight - I bet one time of going to bed hungry will help him make a better choice tomorrow if it comes to that. Stay strong mama - he won't starve! Gotta say, I'll rest on my laurels now, cause I'm not looking forward to that stage

Great work, girls!
DS2 feeds himself, but DS1 doesn't yet. I can't wait, since feeding him is a pain now that I know how easy it is to just watch and smile while they feed themself. Similar to the day they started holding their own bottle. Holy freedom!
That's the problem, I know from experience when he doesn't eat enough at dinner he wakes up WAY too early for momma's liking. This, too, shall pass. I figured I better get it under control before the babies get here!
Yes enjoy this time. He use to be a great eater, and in a matter of 2 weeks is now boycotting nearly everything I feed him, including things he use to devour like mac n cheese, spaghetti and grilled cheese sandwiches.
