What did you eat today?

If babies have growth spurts at 20 weeks, than my little boy had one today!  It started this morning like any other morning.  I ate my bowl of cheerios at 7am and off I went to work.  By 8:30, I was already hungry so I ate an apple.  By 9, I was still hungry, so I ate a small snack bag of Oreos.  I know that wasn't healthy, but I figured it would be off set by the apple I ate earlier.  By 10:30, I ate my chicken salad sandwich that was supposed to be my lunch.  By noon, I was still hungry, so off I went to McDonalds for a cheeseburger and decaf coffee.  At that point, I was FINALLY full for the first time all day.  By 5pm, my hunger was back in full force. For dinner I had 2 pieces of chicken, fresh corn, and a potato.  Followed up by a piece of chocolate cake.  I'm full right now, but within the next 2 hours, I'll be hungry again!  Is anyone else starving?  What do you snack on thoughout the day?

  • Philly cheese steak lean cuisine, a couple bites of dh's calzone, 2 popsicles, beef enchilada with mexican rice,  2 oranges, a Hawaiian roll, and now i'm eating hard boiled eggs. Yummmm.

  • Breakfast- slice of whole wheat bread with PB

    Lunch- ham sandwich on whole wheat sandwich thins, lettuce, a bit of mayo, and havarti cheese.  A cup of nonfat milk.

    Dinner- rotisserie chicken and a little bit of DD's mac n cheese with collard greens.

    Snacks- carrot sticks, protein bar, mixed nuts, lowfat yogurt, hard boiled egg, 2 clementines.

    I have gestational diabetes so I've learned what to eat and snack on so I'm not constantly hungry.  That could be your problem.  You're eating a lot of empty calories with a ton of bad carbs that convert to sugar.  I know you're indulging because you're PG and believe me I've been there with my first pregnancy.  But if you really want to figure out how to curb your appetite you can try to snack on other healthier options that will satisfy you longer.  For example, the apple you had.  Put some PB on it for protein.  Instead of the oreos have a glass of milk and mixed nuts.  Always pair a carb with a protein.

    turkey sausage, rice & a biscuit @ 6:30p

    2 sugar cookies @ 7p

    also had a 2 glasses of coke with lunch, some lemonade and a lot of water.

  • I had a cup of cereal for breakfast.

    I went out to lunch with my mom and DH to Wingers. I had the blackened chicken alfredo. It was yummy.

    For dinner I had half of a taco salad.

    I'm hungry right now. Wishing I had the other half of that taco salad, but I let DH have it.

  • Breakfast- granola bar

    lunch- caesar salad 

    snack- chips and homemade salsa

    dinner- gluten-free pizza.

  • Not starving, but my hunger has increased slightly. I snack on whatever I have around the house that doesn't take much prep. like apples, bananas, gold fish, cookies & milk, pickles, trail mix, peanuts, chocolate...I probably should eat more regular meals though. I generally eat about two meals a day & snack a lot :-) I'm just too tired & busy to cook to be honest. Fast food is too expensive for me & my husband is a horrible cook. LOL So, I rely on snacking when I just don't have the energy or time to cook.

    A bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch

    Chocolate chip muffin

    Ham & cheese sandwhich

    French fries

    Sour cream & onion chips

    Grilled artichokes with pesto aoli

    Another bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch

    A Nature Valley Cinnamon granola bar...

    And I've been eating like this every day! I've only gained 6 lbs! It's insanity. Usually I snack on yogurt instead of the muffin, but hubby bought some at the store and I couldn't resist. I

  • You are exactly right.  I "think" I'm on the right track for today.  Along with my cheerios, I had a piece of whole grain toast with honey.  I brought a chicken salad (on whole grain bread) sandwich for lunch, and my snacks are an apple, peanut butter, yogurt, and granola.  I haven't thought about dinner yet...but so far I think I have cut out some of the empties from yesterday!  Thanks for your input!!

  • Yesterday I had a piece of toast prior to my 8:30am doctors appt, then a bowl of Special K around 9am.  About 10:30 I had some strawberries.  Then for lunch I had two pieces of leftover pizza and a few chips.  Around 3:30pm I had a popsicle, which is made of real fruit.  I snaked on some tostitos and salsa around 5pm.  I met my friend at 6:30 for dinner and had a caesar salad, roll and 2 pieces of white pizza with broccoli.  For a late night snack I had another popsicle.
  • I am 14 weeks, and I was wondering the same thing as you - is my baby going through a growth spurt? I notice it takes more of the same foods I would normally eat to actually make me feel full. I've been eating about 2300-3000 calories a day (some days when I eat more "junk" the calories are higher). I also have been craving junk food that I normally avoid eating and never craved pre-pregnancy. 

    So, typical day is like this:

    breakfast: 3 slices bread with peanut butter OR oatmeal with peanut butter

    snack: banana or apple

    lunch: mac & cheese (whole box)

    snack: usually something sweet - sugar candy, a pop-tart, cookies, etc.

    dinner: I try to force salad or baked potatoe with brocolli down my mouth to actually get some veggies in my system.

     It's not nutritionally pretty, but it's the honest truth ;o)

  • ww egg & ham breakfast, 2 slices french bread with butter, 4 fannie mae mint meltaways & 6 potato pierogis...for dinner i am making baked chicken parmesan and green beans.

    in all fairness, i'd probably be eating more but have a wicked cold so my appetite is not where it has been...

  • I've been very worried about my salt intake during this pregnancy.  So far today i have eaten 2 hard boiled eggs, small piece of banana bread, peanut butter and jelly sandwich, strawberries, 1/2 of a pork burrito with salsa and chips.
