Anyone have a Pikkolo baby carrier?

I have been considering ERGO, but I don't really want to buy a wrap for infancy and then a carrier for older baby.  The infant insert in the Ergo seems to say it is going to be too hot for the baby in the summer.  I am now considering a Pikkolo because it is similar to the ergo (with the baby wearing belt) and you can use it right away.   Do you like yours?

  • No experiance with the Pikkolo but just wanted to share that someone on 3rd tri board posted a link to baby steals.  They have the Ergo for sale, the cheapest being $57.  We have a bjorn that we'll use for the infant stage but I really didn't like it once DS was heavier.  I'm figuring that with two under two this baby will need to be carried a lot.

Yes, I know it is on babysteals.  But spending $65 on something that I won't use until he is older seems silly if I could just buy one thing and use it through all stages.  Wraps seems to run $50-60 and the baby steals deal is $68.  I could get the Pikkolo for $130 and it could be used right away.

  • Hmmm, I googled and it seems like you can use a light weight swaddling blanket instead of the insert to keep the babies legs "fogged up".  Maybe I'll suck it up and buy the ergo.  I wonder how the Ergo is if you are super short waisted...

ETA: I am going to just hold off.  I like the multiple carries of the pikkolo too.  I just can't commit today.  LOL!

  • I have one for DD and I LOVE it.  I hated the Ergo.  I liked that I could carry on the front both forward and rear facing (DD HATED facing in).  It's quite comfortable as well.

ETA:  if you have any stores that carry one, I'd check it out.  I drove about 90min to a store that carried the Ergo (which I borrowed from a friend for a weekend), the Pikkolo, and the Beco.  It also had a bunch of wraps, etc.  That settled the deal for me on the Pikkolo.  BUT, I can imagine others liking others better.  If you don't have a local store, try asking on a cloth diaper board or something similar.  Many CD moms are passionate about babywearing and may let you look at theirs.
