Happier note: AW for myself

Today I was approached by my boss about the possibility of doing a big purchase of musical instruments for my school because he has a windfall of leftover $ that was hidden in the budget, he's ready to give me $1K, can I spend it by tomorrow? (I teach music at a private elementary school).  It's like, my dream come true to have say, a class set of trumpets, or what not.  So I tell him, I can spend it and then some!  Sweet!

So I do my research, make some calls, I go in to give him the update.  He tells me he found out this particular $ cannot be used for non-consumables (things that will last longer than 5 years) BUT- that his boss audited my program when she saw the request and determined that since my program is so successful the company is willing to make a long term investment and will do a huge purchase for me... not even limited to $1K!  Totally outside of our school budget!  I have to get 3 bids from 3 companies on what I want and then send her the best price, and voila!  It's mine!!  Or I should say, it's my student's!!! 

I'm so so so so so excited.  So excited.  Yay for me and my hard work, glad some people are noticing!!

    Whoo hoo, go Super StarParty!!!   And to think, these are the same people who were making your life so hard a few months ago (pre simmy) instead of realizing then that they should have been bending over backwards to make sure they didn't lose you.  Glad to see that your beacon of awesomeness was strong enough to make it's way all the way to their eyes, ya know since it's pretty dark when you have your head lodged up your arse.

    OMG!!!!  As the daughter of a public school music teacher, I'm THRILLED for you!  That's SO incredible!!!!!  I know the need, and I feel the pain and I know how awesome this is.  Wow, just wow.

    And dang, my dad's going to be jealous when I tell him tomorrow...

    I know, there are so many things morally challenging about my job.  Totally not why I got in to teaching- I wanted to serve the underdog, not the cream of the crop.  Makes me feel bad.  

    This is just another thing chalked up into the "Why?" and "life isn't fair" categories.  So crazy how many chances some kids get, while others have to scrap their way just to be thrown a bone.  Sad.
