(NBR) how to get rid of frogs?

So, over the winter, we bought a house with a pool and because it was so late in the winter, we did not get a cover for the pool (it didn't come with one).  We were told that it will be fine and plus, it's about $3000 and didn't really have the money after just buying a house.  Well, WHY didn't anyone tell me that our pool would attract EVERY FROG in our county?!?!  I am so grossed out by them and they are freaking LOUD at night.  After the few big storms we've had, it's made the problem even worse!  I don't know why it stresses me out but they do.  We are scheduled to have it cleaned soon but I just want to get rid of them.  Anyone else dealt with frogs and how to deter them from coming back?

Re: (NBR) how to get rid of frogs?

  • I don't have any answers on how to get rid of them, but when I was a kid we didn't ever use our cover except during the winter.  We always had one or two frogs that would hang out on the edge of the pool and occasionally jump in.  Did the chlorine effect them?  Who knows, but they were always there!

  • We had a friend of the family who had this issue, and we basically had to skim all the frogs out into buckets, dump them into a nearby pond, and then super-chlorinate the pool for a couple of days to discourage them.

  • We have them really bad this year in our pond. We've had them before but not ones that make as much noise as what we have this year. My husband is on scooping duty to get them out of the pond because they do attract snakes which I will not have anywhere near my house. Good luck with the problem and if we find a different solution, I'll let you know.
  • Sorry for your trouble but LOL!
  • We just got into a new house in the beginning of march and the previous guy here actually made the pool into a pond...for real. He put fish in there. Lily pads. You name it. There are about 3 frogs in there right now. I am just going to scoop them out and walk them down to the real pond about 2 football fields away from our house.
  • We live in a townhome development and there are two ponds.  The frogs drive us nuts at night.  It's sooooo annoying and when they finally stop at 4am a bird sits outside our window and sings.
  • We have a pool and get frogs in there all summer long. I don't know of anything you can do other than skim them out and toss em. We toss them into the woods.
