Kimbo1216 - Can I see your birth plan?

I read the part of your plan that you posted in response to a question in a pp. It looks spot on with what I'm going with, but your partial is pretty much my whole plan. I'm wondering if I'm missing things. I was hoping maybe you would share the rest of it (If you don't mind) since it looks like you and I have some similar wants/wishes.

Re: Kimbo1216 - Can I see your birth plan?

  • I may have covered most of it.  I'll see if I can post it without it looking to jumbled.  Here I go:

***Please note.  I am a first timer, and this is just a guideline for you/me to follow.  These are things I have decided based on my own research.  I am happy to answer any questions and listen to any suggestions you may have.

My Plan is to deliver: Vaginally

Present during delivery, I would like: 1. My husband, Kevin 2. My mom, Angela

Labor Augmentation: As little as possible.  If necessary as deemed by doctor, I am ok with:

    -          whatever is deemed necessary and has been explained to myself and husband first

Pain Relief: Unmedicated if possible.  Epidural if needed. ? Game time decision.

During Delivery, I would like to:

    -          Use a mirror to see the baby if available

    -          Avoid an episiotomy, forceps & vacuum extraction

Immediately following delivery, I would like:

    -          I would like my baby placed on my chest ASAP

    -          my husband to cut the umbilical cord once it stops pulsating

If a C-Section becomes necessary, I would like:

    -          To stay conscious

    -          My husband to remain with me the entire time

    -          The screen lowered so I can watch my baby come out

    -          To breastfeed ASAP

    I would like to breastfeed:

    -          ASAP after delivery. Please ask before providing any other types of feeding.

I would like the medical exam & procedures to be:

    -          performed after my husband and I have had a chance to hold my baby first

    -          routine.  Whatever is normal is fine.  Please ask before administering any vaccinations.

    -          No Hep B shot please

Please DO NOT give my baby:

    -          sugar water, formula, or a pacifier without asking first

  • I have seriously tried to dwindle it down to just the basics.  I bolded/made red extra important things to me.

I may have cut out even more since that one post.  Who knows?

I don't want to overwhelm the nurses, but I do want certain things to be very clear!

  • I left out the curtain remaining lowered in the event of a c-section. Thanks so much!

  • Kimbo - Just curious why you are skipping the Hep B shot. Do you plan on getting it later? Or just skipping it all together?
