S/O Naps, a routine Q

Gracie has gotten into a pretty consistent routine all on her own. Wake up at 7:30- takes a 45-60 min nap around 9:30 then up again until about 11:30 or 12 where she takes a long nap. She takes an afternoon nap around 4-5 and seems to go down for the night about 7:30 (Still nurses 2-3 times through the night). We've been so busy with visitors from the east coast the past few weeks that I am loving her set schedule (I know it could change hehe) .. but how do you factor in errands?? I don't want to go anywhere because of her nap schedule. What do you guys do? I think if I am home before her long afternoon nap, I'd be OK.

I am also not feeling like going anywhere lately :( Very hermit like. I just like being home. Anyone else ever feel that way? :( I'm not being anti-social and I'm not lonely, I have made a couple friends since Gracie was born (before that we had just moved here) but I am just happiest at home. I wonder if anyone else feels that way.

  • Get in the car at 9:30 and let that first nap happen on the way to do your errands.  Then do your errands and get home before the good nap.  During the good nap, relax and enjoy the time off.  ;)

  • That was M's routine for her 1st year. I still went and did what I needed to do. She would normally sleep in the car or stroller while we were out and about.

I do this on the weekends, and during the week, I wait until my H gets home or E goes to sleep for the night to run out and get things done - or we all just pile in the car and go together.  So far running errands with her, whether she sleeps or not (she usually does) hasn't thrown off her schedule much at all.

  • Then again, maybe you shouldn't listen too much to my advice.  I am a pretty new mom here and could be screwing up my child, for all I know!  She seems happy enough, though.

So you don't leave during the day at all? Or just not for boring errands?

    .

During the week I am at work all day, so once I'm home, I'd rather play with her and wait until she's asleep or my H is home so I can run errands fast and miss out on less awake time with her.  On weekends I pretty much run errands whenever, although if she's down for a nap, I don't wake her up to go out.  If she's due for one of her short naps, I figure that's a great time to pop her in the car/stroller/carrier and let her sleep while I get something done.

  • If she'll take that first nap while you're out and about, I agree that is a great plan. After about 3 months Max very rarely slept in the car or stroller, so I'd have to choose between nap or going out. We did a lot of squeezing things in in between his two naps. So if she'll sleep while out, enjoy it!

    Ahhh! Now I get it!
