Re: Prayers to those in Alabama

  • So scary! I grew up in Birmingham and remember spending a lot of time in our basement during April storms. We are getting severe weather here too (fell asleep to tornado sirens last night and woke up to them this morning)...but nothing like what is going on there. Hope everyone there stays safe!

  • we are even getting tornadoes north of Houston lately!! Of course ours aren't of that mass. We are on the south side so they are rare here.

They scare the crap out of me though. I can do the hurricanes. It's the tornadoes they bring that really scare me.

  • Me too. I lived in FL for 10 years and went through that horrendous 2004 when we had four hurricanes, and I actually prefer them over tornadoes. At least you can prepare for them...

Me too! I was born and raised in Brevard County-Rockledge. We moved to Houston when I was in High School.

This footage on here makes me so sad for those people. They just said F4 or F5. Most Hurricanes aren't even that strong. This thing is leveling homes :/

  • They were just showing this on our 6 o'clock news... so scary! I don't know how people that live there do it... I would be scared to death. I am hoping most people are in their basements! I know they started predicting this tornado a few hours ago, so I hope people were able to prepare.

  • My family lives in Birmingham, but they keep interrupting the national news for the local weather here since we just had a tornado on the ground - so I can't get any info on what is going on down there :(

Try Weather Channel. They're constant on it, except for Local on the 8's.

I'm done with the tornadoes. 3 nights in 1 week in the storm shelter is too much. :(

Not too far from where I was -- I went to UF, so I was in Gainesville for four years and Orlando six years after that.
