Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Not sure about our childcare provider anymore

It took my DH & I quite some time to find a childcare provider we really felt comfortable with for our DD.  She has her own 9mo DD and she watches a couple other infants besides our DD part-time in her home.  Last week she informed us that she's 12 weeks pregnant and that she still plans on continuing watching all the kids when she has the baby.  Then this morning, my DH dropped off DD and they just got a 8 week old kitten.

Were thinking we might have to start looking for different daycare options in case she decides to not be able to handle all the kids when the baby comes or in case something were to happen and she needed to take a lot of time off due to the pregnancy and/or having her baby.

And now with the kitten... it's way too early to tell if our DD will have any allergies, but it's just weird that they didn't bother to ask us if it was ok.

Re: Not sure about our childcare provider anymore

  • That sounds to me like too many infants to watch for just one person.

I'd be moving my DC for that reason alone.

    Not ok.  Find another provider.

  • She's not even going to take a leave?  Impossible!  Yes, if I were you I would start looking for a new daycare.  Especially like you said, if she ends up having complications or anything you would be in a jam.

    I agree.

  • 4 infants under 18 months is a no-no for 1 provider. And she's soon to have 5!

The kitten isn't something that would bother me.

  • I'll weigh in on the kitten - H is severly allergic to cats.  DD hasn't been around cats really, so we don't know if she's allergic yet, although there's a 40% chance H has passed on his allergy (got that # from his allergist).  I expect to be informed of those kinds of changes before they occur.
