I had a totally uncomplicated vag delivery so I was only in the hospital for 24 hours. I wore the hospital gowns the entire time and changed into yoga pants and a shirt for going home. Maybe that sounds gross but I was not in the mood to change clothes or do anything but sit in the bed while at the hospital. Of course it was a clean gown at least.
Many people on here will say that they are just going to wear the gown due to bleeding. I personally am bringing yoga pants and a nursing tank. We will have visitors and I will feel totally uncomfortable in a hospital gown in front of them.
I had C Section last time and wore the hospital gown the first night. Then I switched to gowns that button down the front. I really think either is fine but if you are going to nurse your baby, make sure it accomodates that too!! Oh and if you have to be induced, I recommend good walking shoes as I walked those halls a long time with no results!!
After delivery the doc comes and checks you so right after that I took a shower and changed out of the gown. I put on cropped yoga pants and a nursing tank(it was August and really hot here). That is also what I went home in.
I had a c-section and wore nursing pajamas while I was at the hospital. My mom got me two pair of shirt/pant combos and they worked great. So shorts or crop pants with a nursing cami would be fine if that is what you are comfortable in. If you end up having a c-section you just need to make sure your shorts/pants don't rub your incision.

Since I am having the baby with a midwife at a hospital, they typically release you after about 4-5 hours after giving birth. If that is the case I will just wear what I came in with. If I stay (which I probably will to make my second day check-up easier for them so they don't have to drive out to my house) I am bringing some awesome polka dot pjs, a tank, a nursing bra. Probably some yoga pants for going home and a sweatshirt or something just in case it gets cold.
I bought a nursing pajama/robe set at Motherhood Maternity. I considered wearing just the hospital gown, but I think it will be nice to have something decent to change into once I'm showered and family/friends start stopping by to meet the baby. It's a comfortable pajama set and allows for nursing as well.

I wore the hospital gown the entire time I was there (I was discharged about 30 hours after he was born). I did bring a short robe for me to wear over the gown when I had visitors, as well as slippers. It worked fine.
yoga pants/nsg tanks/pj's from a couple hrs after delivery til i was discharged. working on l&d, i'd say abt half the patients change into their own clothes and half stay in hosp gowns til discharge. whatever is best for you!

this. I wore my pants Urkle style or a pj dress that I thought I would never wear. Having had a c-section I had no choice.

I bought a pj set from Motherhood that's pants, nursing tank and robe. I plan on wearing that while in the hospital during the day/while visitors are there. I will probably wear the hospital gown for sleeping so I can get two days out of the pj set. Will most likely bring sweatpant capri's, t-shirt and hoodie for going home in. But I was thinking the other day....what if I have an unplanned c-section and will be in the hospital for 4 days vs 2? Think I may buy another pj set and leave it on my dresser at home and send DH to pick it up if I end up needing it.

I brought a robe and wore a maternity sleeping shirt/dress. I threw on pajama bottoms when guests came around but got out of the hospital gown as fast as I could. I was there a day and a half.
Re: question what to wear in the hospital after you deliver
