Hi everyone! My husband and I are expecting are little one in September and are in the middle of purchasing a home in Concord. While we are still in inspection/paperowkr phase, I thought I would check in here and see if anyone is in that area and ask that they think. The house is Northeast of Concord Bart, kind of between Concord and Clayton.
I am from Oakland so I am kind of familiar with Concord but it seems to have changed a lot since when I was growing up here! Anyone have any insight? love/hates about the area or schools?
Thanks!!
Re: Any concords area ladies?
Hello! I'm in Walnut Creek, which I love, and spend a lot of time in Concord. Don't know about the schools or *living* there though.

The house is near Todos Santos Plaza. We don't know much about that area but that seems to be the landmark that is recognizable.
Im excited but kind of nervous, it is a big step in a new area to us!
i grew up in concord (concord/clayton border JUST over the hills from pittsburg/antioch) and still live there.
i need some cross streets to get an idea of where you're at b/c what i'm envisioning isn't close to BART. i like the area obviously and would love to move back to the concord/clayton area just for the schools for dd (ayers, highlands and mt. diablo elm. and diablo view/pine hollow jhs). there's lots of shopping and resturants handy, newhall park. there's lots to do. except for a few stray random incidents low crime too.
the only drag .. YV Rd it seems is the only way in/out to the freeway which means in the morning it could take an hr to get from concord/clayton to 24/680.
feel free to PM me if you have questions about specific areas ...
eta- i see todos santos plaza is a landmark ... close to BART, lots of shopping, dining, concord library is VERY close, much easier freeway access than the above scenario - my ONLY knocks are that being close to BART and downtown that you'll run into slightly more crime/homelessness than if you were further out. i can't say anything about the schools as we hope to be in a different part of concord when dd hits kindergarten.
Welcome to the CCC!
I think you'll like it on this side of the tunnel! We also live in Concord, and like it very much. I like the neighborhoods/communities over by the Plaza. Very cute house with "old" charm. Ditto PinkTulpis - the Plaza/Square is a great area. They've really done a lot to upgrade/improve it over the last 10 years. The restaurants are good, the people are friendly, the park is a great place to hang with your kiddo... and there are all kind of community events held in the Plaza through out the year (including the weekly Farmer's Market/Music Series which starts up soon - my favorite!!). I don't know a lot about the schools, but I think you've picked a nice place! Good luck with your closing!
