LO positioned sideways?

For the past few weeks, it's felt like LO's head is to the left of my belly button and the butt is right under my right rib. He moves around in there but has pretty much stayed in this general sideways position for a while. At my appointment today, I mentioned this to the OB and she said that it's not a big concern cause there's still a lot of time for him to turn but that they'd be monitoring his position to see if he does turn. Then she mentioned that when she was pregnant that her baby had turned sideways at the last minute and she had to have a c-section.

I'm not too worried about it now, but I found it odd that he's sideways -- I always thought I only had to worry about him being breeched. Anyone else's LO positioned like this?

    I thought DS #1 was like that - I think they call it Transverse, and the dr couldn't tell for sure. When we did the ultrasound to check he was head down.  This one feels like he is all over the place so I guess I will see next week how he is positioned as we have an ultrasound scheduled.

    My LO just recently started staying in one place, but my MW said she won't be concerned until after 37wks and even then she said that some babies don't turn head down until last minute.
    after a successful induction Yuri-Anne was born 5/30/11!

    I "thought " that lo #1 was transverse but he ended up being head down. Sometimes it feels like the baby is laying sideways but they really are head down. Plus like your dr said you have time for baby to get into position. Good luck!

    Well, I guess we'll find out if he really is sideways next week at our u/s!

    As of today, baby A is head down and baby B is transverse. My Dr. Says this prob won't change and if if doesn't we'll go for a vaginal birth. She's hoping once the first lil' one is out, Baby B will reposition head down and be pushed out... Oh Boy! ;)

    My LO was laying like this when I had my 3D U/S and I'd assumed she still was but at my appt. on Monday my MW felt my belly and said it feels like LO is head down.  I still feel her movement mostly on my right side though, which is where i was mostly feeling her before too.

    I found out at my u/s on monday that baby has her head up and butt down now..now the last couple days she keeps laying more sideways and butting her head into my right side (ouch) and I can feel the head on the right and what feels like a butt on the opposite left side...very uncomfortable ! I hope she turns head down soon :)
